Does Anyone Have Any Thoughts on Life Coaching?

I was wondering if any of our members had any thoughts on acquiring training on being a Life Coach and attaining certification?

Life coaching from what I understand is basically someone that supports you in reaching a goal or making a change in your life both personally and professionally.

Some people have mentioned to me that obtaining this background and getting certified can greatly enhance one's credibility in the area of personal development and others have said your own life experiences and your desire to help others is what really matters.

What do you think?

  • My wife does life coaching with her clients. She couples it with personal inner work called "The Work of Byron Katie". She gets remarkable results and her clients are changed for the better ever more. Yes. It is a good thing. Keep investigating it.

I'm a certified life coach. I received mine through the National Board of Certified Counselors, so it's a credential of Board Certified Coach. It's my side business because my first one is content writing. If I had more time to advertise my services, it would probably be more successful. However, I do recommend going through the training because it helps a great deal in understanding the differences between coaching and counseling.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Just like an education, it's what you make of it that counts.

Just like any form of education, you'll only be as successful as the effort you put into making it great.

Your best course of action is to get in touch with real coaches. Yes, certification is necessary. But to get certified, you must really be capable to be a coach.

I believe Life Coach training is important on many levels and I have two different Certifications in Life Coaching as well as being an NLP Master Practitioner.

Be wary of "credentialed" life coach training though, some of it is certainly excellent training, yet Life Coaching is not a regulated field, so there is really no need to have formal training other than to excel with your service offerings. Also, the "board" that determines credentials for Life Coach training, is not a third party, it is a board of Life Coaches. So, you may pay over-inflated prices for what is oftentimes incomplete or "cookie cutter" training. You want training that will help you develop your own coaching methods, because there are so many ways you can take it including personal, professional, relationship, diet, spiritual or wellness coaching - while also giving you some of the core traditional methods as an aid.

If you like, please check out my training program, it is very affordable and all inclusive. The coaches who have gone through the training are very well pleased (Vibrant Life Solutions is one of my coaches for you to check out).
