Are you putting limits on your own success?

Maybe you're a 50K a year person, but you can't see yourself as a 500K a year person. That's just too much of a stretch, so you'll just live a "comfortable" life at 50K because you don't really believe in your ability to achieve much more than that.

Don't lie to yourself. What do you really want? Are you settling because you think you're not quite good enough to join the big leagues? Do you want to be great, but settle for "above average"?

The most important thing for you to remember on your journey is: You become what you believe yourself to be.

And that means that if you want to be like the greats, then you have to see yourself on their level. As long as you see them as above you in some way, then you'll never be like them. If you want to be a millionaire, then you better start seeing yourself as one. Whatever you want, you'll have it if you simply eliminate any doubt that you'll get it. Make your success inevitable by reminding yourself over and over again that what you want is already yours, it's only a matter of time.

Very true. Just as long as you see other people (no matter how much money they make or how much success they have) as 'different' than you, the gap between what you want stays the same.

You have to know or learn that you are just as deserving as any 'one' else.

You have raised some good point but I think no one should put limit on his / her success.
One can go as far as other people have gone. There isn't limits to anyone's success.

I didn't say there are limits to anyone's success. I said that people put limits on their own success.

I think that the biggest problem is that people are not educated enough about achieving big goals and thinking big. They settle for less than they are capable of because they don't know that they can achieve more, and they simple don't know how to be bigger than their fears and problems. We all have same fears and same zone of comfort. The most successful people in the world and self-made millionaires have been thought how to be bigger than their problems, and how to aim high and how to think out of the box.

A lot of people want to be successful and desire to earn, as an example, $50,000 per year online.

They want to make that much but in their mind, then just don't believe it.

What ever your goal is, you have to become the person who is earning that much per year.

You need to brainwash yourself that you are already earning this amount. Visualize yourself making that much money.

The old saying is still true:

Whether you believe it or not, you are RIGHT.

No reason to put limits on success. Just have long term and short-term goals. Don't get upset if you're unable to reach six figures in your first month of starting your business like the sales letter you read promised.

I agree. A lot of people put limits on themselves which reflects on their success. Most will give up right before the success even happens. It all begins and ends with your belief system.

Great post, but it gets hard to see yourself that way. Let me explain,

I have always felt that I am destined for greatness. Not deserving, nor entitled to it, just feel like I can reach any level I desire.

But we have lost our home to foreclosure, both our vehicles to repossession, and I am working at a grocery store at night just to have food money.

I had an idea, started a company, found partners, found investors, and rubbed elbows with millionaires and billionaires while building it. Had a good run but the business wasn't sustainable. Lost everything.

Started a web design firm, was doing sites for as low as $250 to have some sort of income, have awesome clients, great references, and still only managed to pull about 15k last year with it. Haven't gotten a site this year.

Right now I would feel like a millionaire if I could make 5k a month. Hell, even half of that a month.

Limitations. Town of 10k people. Nearest town with over 50k is 1.5 hours away. I can't afford to drive over there on door to door with potential for clients.

So while I see myself at extreme levels someday, right now it is hard to see the light, I have 3 children and a gorgeous wife and need to make things happen. I can imagine us all there, but seems almost unreachable at times.

sociallid - I can totally empathize with your situation - been there, AM there..

But I think that's exactly the sort of thinking that keeps you in a situation like that. If you always tell yourself you "can't" do this, "can't" do that, no matter how true it is, you will always feel like you can't do something.

Maybe thinking of what you CAN do will eventually lead to more success. Focusing on what you can do instead of what you can't do eventually fosters a mind full of positive thoughts.

As self-help gurus suggest, thoughts create reality.

Exactly, what you focus on grows. Thinking about your "failures" will never bring you success. How do you know that it's not just directing you towards something better? The key is to maintain a positive outlook no matter what and never dwell on what you don't want!

Imagine your success and get pumped up and excited about it! Your current reality does not determine your future. Your ability to see a greater future despite the current circumstances will be the determining factor for your success.

What I've realized recently is that no matter what income I'm at, I want my situation to be completely affordable so its relaxed and free.

I know friends who have gone from 60K to 160K just to have more expenses come out of nowhere.. private school, new cars, etc. Still trapped and stressed. The temptation is always to spend what you have.

More money is good, but what I really want is true freedom. I want more and more peace, fun and happiness.

I have high income aspirations like most people here, but even more so I want the discipline to keep my expenses manageable.

Also, I define my real success now based on how good I feel, which comes more down to trust, faith, peace, positivity, emotional release, and facing myself with honesty. Money can't buy you that.
