Ever Trick Yourself Into Being More Productive

For those of us who use to-do lists as a central pillar of our productivity, try this:

Create your list as usual then reverse the order of items as listed and work through the newly listed duties to see how much you get done. No cheating or rearranging the list.

Try this out for just the one time and you may be quite surprised at what you discover.

    All the time

I need to publish a blog post to boost my productivity. Yet thinking through feedback given to me by a moderator on WF - along with an either on purpose or buggy message window popping up here to slow down the machine lol - so I will get off of WF, limit my time here and focus on my blog.

How? By realising that changing the order of things - like you noted - helps me to boost productivity. Also, by realising that spending more than a few minutes on a marketing task that you are outgrowing can boost your productivity too. I will publish a post now instead of putting one on WF, because anything more than a post every 3-4 days is seen as spammy, from what I garner. Changing the order feels good, and feeling good changes your perception, and changing your perception boosts your productivity immediately, because you will naturally do things which are for your good, when you feel good.

Change the order. Wake up later. Take a day off. Trick yourself by breaking your routine. You will be amazed by how quickly your effectiveness increases.

    Hope this helps.

    Great points!

However, I can't trick myself no matter how hard I try. I usually only focus my efforts on one marketing method.

    And the thing is...

    I really enjoy doing it.

The time goes by so fast when I am on my computer and my fingers just seem to have a life of their own with the key board once the 'creativity' sets in.

This is what I call 'inspired' actions. When ever I do anything inspirational, I get great results. When ever I have to push myself or try to seek motivation, I am spinning my wheels.
