The year 2014 has already begun, most people are already well off onto their journey to fulfil their resolutions and to become a better individual. Here are three tips to help improve your year, to create a better 2014.

1. Maintain a positive attitude

You will be surprised how far a positive attitude can get you. Believe it or not, positive energy can be felt by other around you. Actually, energy itself whether it's positive or negative can be felt by others around you. If you're angry and trying to contain it, your body language will still emanate negative energy. Positive energy can be emanated by keeping yourself in a bright mood, keeping yourself in a state of happiness and being satisfied with everything around you. Don't look for the flaws in everything instead look for the features and aspects that make up something, or someone.

"Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them." - Marcus Aurelius

2. Expose yourself to experiences

"Life Is Built By Memories" - That's the motto that we go by on here. The first article on this site was all about that (click the quote to go to the article). Ultimately, at the end of your life all you will have left are the experiences that you have encountered throughout your years, there's not much else that will hold much value other than that. Don't be afraid to take risks and put yourself out there, that's the only way you will truly be able to live your life to the fullest extent, to its complete capabilities and to reap all the benefits that you can. Dream big, act on your desires and seize the moment.

"Given the choice between the experience of pain and nothing, I would choose pain." - William Faulkner

3. Focus on the present

Many people are coped up with issues of the past or worries of the future, failing to be able to truly experience the present. Their mind is elsewhere in a whole world of worry and fear. Perhaps the past has shaped them into this person is afraid to take live in the present, or their future is too daunting to allow them to want to advance through the present. No matter the situation, place yourself away from such troubling aspects of life and live in the present. What you do now will change the future and obsessing over regrets and missed opportunities will not heal the past.

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." - Buddha
