Take a week off and READ like crazy

This is something I've found to be extremely beneficial.

Whenever I feel stressed and it lasts for more than a couple days, I know it's time for a break. Many people simply work through the stress, but I've found that my work is very mediocre when I'm stressed and a few days off is actually more beneficial in the long run.

If you're overwhelmed, try to just drop everything and spend a couple days doing a whole lot of nothing. But one thing that you can do to make sure those days aren't wasted is read books, lots of them. Do this and you might experience:

  • a burst of inspiration
  • new ideas for your business
  • less stress and more peace of mind
  • greater motivation to succeed
  • higher energy levels when you return to work
  • ability to think more clearly
  • better writing skills
  • better communication skills
  • higher levels of creativity
These are all things I've experienced as a result of taking a few days off to just read and relax. When I get back to work, I have fresh ideas and I'm extremely motivated.

Instead of just pushing through the stress, consider doing the exact opposite. Relax, read a good book, and clear your mind of racing thoughts. The long term benefits of this are huge.

    Hi,

Excellent. Pull back and relax. All that you want is begging to find you. If you stress you have missed this fact.

Nothing is more important than that you feel amazing. Persistent stressing wears on your health and diminishes your creativity.

Read. Absorb. Chill. I return to work energized after taking extended breaks.

    Great advice.

I totally agree. I personally love fictional thrillers so I always have some here to read. I do also read books that have work-related info but I try to avoid that if I am stressed. Fiction is a good relaxer at any time.

    Hi,

I totally agree with reading, it is not only relaxing and inspiring, but it can extend our knowledge base. I prefer non fiction because I like to learn, but fiction can teach too. I think reading should be done on a regular basis, it can help us grow.

Also music and meditation are truly great if you suffer from the dreaded stress, they feed the soul.

    Regards
    Rob

  • I would rather read all day than watch TV or go to the movies. It's definitely more relaxing.

I agree that reading helps. With thinking new thoughts, we shift our focus on something different, and we forget about it and relax from everyday racing.
