Spelling and grammar in public texts

So I had some trouble deciding where to put this question, but improving my grammar and spelling would be self-improvement so......:p

Anyway, when creating a site or blogging you´re basically exposing your grammar and spelling proficiency to the whole world. I don´t consider my english to be horrible, but it´s not my native language so I get quite insecure when I write a text that I intend to publish.
So I´m wondering if there´s a site or similar, where you can run your text by, nd check the grammar, spelling etc?
I know word supposedly has this function. But honestly I don´t trust it....
Anyway, grateful for any suggestions you might have.

I do not know of any, but I am sure there must be some out there, have you tried a search online?

From what you have written in this post, your spelling and grammar look pretty good, although it is not fail safe at least you know word will pick up most spelling and grammar errors. I wouldn't let it stop you posting on your blog, your standard is higher than many blogs out there.

Grammarly | Instant Grammar Check - Plagiarism Checker - Online Proofreader. This is a great site for many reasons.
    You should try it.

Just post it. The grammar nazi's on most sites will correct you.

Check this sit out> Cunningham's Law - Meta people online generally don't want to be helpful, but they do want to be smartest person in the "room."

    Use that to your advantage.

The most thoughtful blogs I read are ones with some grammar and spelling errors. I've known plenty of intelligent and creative people whose emails were full of typos. They think so fast that they find it difficult to express it by typing real fast. Most creative writers focus on their ideas first without regards to the mechanics and structure of their thoughts. It disrupts the creative flow process if you have to go back and edit your spelling or typo every time.

Just post your ideas and then make corrections at the end.

  • Ken... Googling Hemingway and trying to find something specific is like telling a friend to meet them in Hyde park..... =)
toby: Just captured 99% of people online there.... =D... But to their defence, I find many people are way more helpful on the internet.
Statcode: Grammar check always comes after writing so I don´t mess with the flow. But on the other hand, in some cases if the grammar is way off it might affect the interpretation and general experience of the idea(s).

I believe Ken was referring to the Hemingway App. It seems to take the phrase "brevity is wit" and apply it to the text you've entered. It's good for making your writing easy to understand and follow.

However if you enter passages of Hemingway's work they usually come up with a lot of red marks, so the name is somewhat misleading.

ESS, I write posts in a Word Doc. Word checks spelling and grammar automatically if you have it toggled that way, or you can click the icons to do it manually. Try it; so easy!

In my opinion just focus on getting your message across and not worry too much about spelling and grammar, you wont go wrong with inbuilt word processor spelling and grammar checks these days. a good example is the text editor on this forum, you have to try really hard to get your spellings wrong. Be brave, get your message out there. Good luck

Sorry, that wasn't my intention. If sentence structure and grammar are giving you problems, buy a copy of The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. I once avoided writing and even reading at all costs. That book helped me the most, aside from practicing and practicing.

For a more intense and advanced method of improving your writing, consider trying a version of English called E-Prime. I recommend reading and understanding The Elements of Style before attempting this. Reading your initial post actually inspired me to write a blog article titled To Be or Not to Be. You can read that at http://www.bettermindbodyself.com/
