I visualize my goals every day after meditating. I think that everyone should visualize themselves as having already completed their goal, having what they want, and feeling as if they already "have it".

While doing this, recently, I have been noticing tension in my solar plexus area while visualizing certain goals. Usually, 9 times out of 10, when I visualize a goal after meditating I am 100% relaxed, no matter what the difficulty or work involved to complete my goal.

The tension comes when I visualize these goals consistently. Do I have unconscious beliefs regarding these goals? Does the tension mean that I "think" I want it, but deep down I really don't? Perhaps I have to work on myself before working on the goals.

Anyone else ever have this, or something similar?

Nah. Too much work. Just yesterday in Walmart I saw a massage chair that does the whole back AND legs. I dropped a dollar and within minutes, I was cool beans.

    LOL!

in the last six month i gave up on meditation..what has happened is i have been able to turn my mind into a holdeck .. and immerse myself in what i want ..walk through ..get a perspective on it and be able to see how it works ..

this has become the way i think and there is no..logical listing or description that i have to think about .

in doing this though i have had to re evaluate what is really important to me ..the meaning of success

Do you think that it could have been the meditation that developed this. Or maybe made something click in your head that probably wouldn't have if you hadn't partaken in meditation?

A good question would be,, where do you feel your thoughts would have lead you without the times taken aside for meditation.. Where would you have went, or what activity would have been done that could have completely changed your perspective,, And,, Direction of your life.

Just a thought that crossed my mind, and thought I would share it.

      !Cheers!

Hi Jason, I think you may be right and do have some beliefs that are deep in your subconscious mind. The solar Plexus is the centre of our emotions and when you are visualizing your goals, may be your subconscious is causing the tension as you may have an old belief that is sabotaging your efforts. Some of the emotions in the Solar Plexus area are anxiety and fear, although there are also excitement, freedom and control. The tension may be a sign pointing out something is not quite right.

It may be beneficial to do some work on yourself to see if you can expose an old belief that is deep rooted and not inline with your goals.

I hope this helps, good luck.

i gave up ling ago at trying not to think for any length of time ..the process i went for instead ..wa observing the thoughts ..and learning to pick out my thoughts from the thought vomit from competing programs in out head placed through our lives .

the original purpose of meditation ..was not what it has been sold as to westerners .

meditation was not a once a day ritual..it was a method ..of when thier is confusion on what to do next ..sit clear the mind settle the emotions and wait for the next action you can take now to become clear .

in china the preferance was for tie chi ..or meditation through movement for those who where not monks .

in visualizing the way i do even if it is about a desired future ..it gives me an idea of what i need to learn about ..or changes i need to make now .most of those change have beenwhat beliefs about myself i need to adjust to be more appropriate to the life i want to live .

now another form is the grattitude meditation..or starting to feel grateful for some of the crap that happened ..that gave me no choice but to make changes that in the long term will make for a much better life for me .

part of the reason this change happened ..was my brain shorted out trying to track to many things for to many people for to long ..and trying to keep a list in my head at this point is like trying to write with chalk on a wet chalkboard .

Out of interest Jason, when you visualize, are you able to generate that feeling (buzz) of excitement in your heart? From what I understand, this is the most important part of visualisation, as that causes the vibration that attracts your desires.

Could the tension come from concentrating too much on the 'thing' you desire rather than the feeling you get?

    Cheers

If that is the only time you feel that specific sensation and you're absolutely certain of this, then yes it's a physiological reaction triggered by anxiety or psychological discomfort that stems from your goal's incomptability with your subconscious self-image.

Your self-image is partially shaped by the values and principles that mean most to you. So if someone values honesty on a subconscious level, they will feel some physical discomfort at even the thought of doing something dishonest. I'm not saying this is the case with you, but write down a list of your personal values and honest beliefs and see if this goal aligns with them.

If it doesn't, change the goal or your self-image (the harder of the two options)

If it does and you're still feeling that tension, then that is currently beyond my scope and might require the attention of a medical doctor.

    Regards,

    Hi,

I've been working with NLP, Energy, and other things like psychology and Qi Gong for years and also do sessions with people to help them with limiting beliefs and other 'stuff'...so I thought I'd answer.

If you bring to mind a certain goal (or thought) and you feel a sensation, anywhere, that is energy. You can call it or label it anything you want, or put any meaning to it you want, but what I do is ask that energy/sensation what its doing for me, what its intention is. I always get some kind of answer.

It's usually trying to protect me about something which then leads me to realize there is something I need to do or address, maybe some fear or planning, or whatever.

It really doesn't matter what the content is. The point is to put your attention on the energy, describing it is another thing you can do, but mainly to ask it outright for the intention, and if its willing to work with your goal or what does it need to go ahead with your goal and feel safe.

    This is classic NLP.

Now if the energy is "negative", for example anxious and not delight, then I'd do some Energy Psychology on that feeling to calm it down so I could think better.

EFT/Tapping works very nicely and quickly for this. Since you finger-tap on the main acupuncture spots, you are basically sending energy through the meridians which clears out any energy that is stuck.

We all have stuck energy for things, especially fear. Think of it as holding your breath when scared, well, your body holds in energy. You can 'talk' to your energy like its a 'part' of you or you can Tap it to help it move.

Energy needs to flow, not stay stuck. Once the 'charge' of the energy is gone, its like your mind is clear and you don't feel the sensation. It can be very transformative.

These are my best techniques that have worked for years with my clients and myself! I do offer sessions for sale, but what made me answer this thread was that it was the first time I saw someone describing this energy/sensation and even was aware of it! So that is such good awareness and good to ask about it since most people don't seem to "get this" at all, (until I've "healed" them of it and they are then like "wow", lol).

We're just not taught to pay attention to ourselves in this manner, but its so helpful to do so. You can change just about anything you want to by tuning into it.

You might have a pattern of overeating, avoiding the gym, or attracting the same types of relationships. Anytime a pattern of self-sabotage is present, the subconscious is involved. By identifying your patterns, you bring these subconscious pathways to the surface so they can be consciously observed and changed. Ask yourself:· What do you believe to be true about yourself or your life in order for this pattern to exist?

For instance, if you have a pattern of overeating, you might believe that you deserve to eat what you want, when you want it. Or that food is your only consistent form of pleasure. Or that you haven't eaten enough until you feel a certain full feeling. Or that food is a well-deserved reward or comforting stress reliever.

        Thomas & Anyone Else...

I never understood that. Why would someone want to "sabotage" themselves. I've read similar many times, but never understood it.

I also have heard some people self-sabotage in fear of being successful... another issue that confuses me. Yeah, right... I fear being successful because I may lose count at $898, 931.00 when counting my money.

What is the underlying issue here when people "self-sabotage"? Does this take place at the conscious level, sub-conscious or what? What do you feel is really going on here?

        Thanks,

        WF
