8 important life lessons I've learned

1. Suffering is often the greatest motivator. Let your pain fuel your efforts. Never become complacent.

2. Being alone doesn't mean you're lonely. In fact, the people who always need to be around people are often the loneliest inside. You must learn to love yourself enough so that you require nothing outside of yourself to be happy.

3. Most people don't care whether you succeed or not. Succeed anyway.

4. If you don't change things in your life, your life will never change. Creating a few simple new habits can change your life in big ways.

5. You don't have to believe everything you think. The ego can be a major roadblock. Remember, your opinions are just opinions, not fact. All so-called "facts" are actually opinions. None of us know shit. Choose the beliefs that serve you best, but be willing to change when necessary.

6. You only hurt yourself when you fail to be loving and compassionate. Refuse to complain or criticize. This type of energy will only prevent you from living a good life. Speak kind words or none at all.

7. Success is about the SMALL things you do daily. We usually only see the end result of success. What we don't see is the series of tiny decisions that accumulated to create the image of "success."

8. Stress is the #1 obstacle to reaching your dreams. Stress kills. Not only your physical self, but it kills your creative ability and your happiness too. Eliminate stress by meditating daily, practicing honesty and self-expression, eating healthy foods, exercising, drinking plenty of fluids, and eliminating harmful habits and over-stimulating activities.

Great lessons I've found success is about doing little things, tens of thousands of times. Like, writing comments on blogs, or posts on Warrior, or heck, writing 1000s of blog posts, or shooting thousands of videos. Each little step creates a wildly successful venture. Just stay on course, keep on keeping on and you'll rock it out. Thanks!

    So true, and So important.
Realizing that every tiny thought and action you have are steps leading to success or failure. Some people think success came from a great idea and that was that..
There are Millions and Millions of great ideas every day, but very few are made into success stories. It is only those who consider every moment of there life and take action on all of the "Small" things that stand a chance for success.

    Thanks for sharing!

This is a lesson that I learned myself. I used to think that changing was the wrong thing to do. I was always told to be myself and don't try to be something I'm not. After reading books from successful people and starting my own online business, I realized that being myself actually means making changes that will allow me to become the true version of myself. Every success story I know of was created by somebody who decided to make a change in his/her life.

Change is a good thing. When you decide to accept change you will become mentally, physically, and spiritually stronger.

    1. People will often do more to avoid pain than to enjoy success. That always amazed me until I learned that the masses are those people. Successful people are more motivated by increasing their joy than by avoiding pain. Both are still there though.

    4. Another word for change is healing or cure. (As tvon said.) One of the greatest miracles of life ever achieved.

    5. reprogram the ego. Eliminate it to bring it back in to serve you. Achieving the empty space of the present moment in Zen does this automatically. Only there the ego is eliminated. You do not need one single teaching of how to bring the ego back. Trust me, it will ALWAYS come back. But this time when it does it will be different because our true selves are in charge.

Great post bnorton2010. I just started meditation as a daily ritual about 45 days ago. I put in at least 20 minutes a day but go for 30 minutes most of the time. I've had a nice amount of hour long sessions as well. Amazing stuff so far.

Awesome lessons. All of them are very true and really helpful. I hope people take the time to read these and give them some thought as they will be able to enjoy life a little more. =-D

One thing I will add is that no matter what we choose our path despite any circumstances and this is why I always say any decision should be taken wisely.

    Great lessons.

    Thanks for the share.

One of the great lessons i learnt in life is that you cannot achieve your dreams if you are not willing to sacrifice some things (mostly instant gratification)

    Cheers,
