How To Overcome Self-Doubt

Something that many people struggle with is self-doubt. They doubt themselves and whether they can accomplish their dreams.

Well I'm here to tell you that you absolutely, positively, can accomplish anything that you set your mind to: Anything that you decide that you will do whatever it takes to accomplish. (See "Think And Grow Rich" for more of this kind of mindset.)

Nick Vujicic (LifeWithoutLimbs.org) was literally born with no arms and no legs. However, he found strength in Jesus and is now a successful Motivational Speaker and Evangelist. Imagine that. A man born without the ability to walk, care for his basic needs, or even embrace the ones he loves can be amazingly successful.

And, so can you: No matter what you are going through at the moment.

In my opinion, all of the trials and tribulations that you experience in Life are there for a reason. They are there to make you a stronger, more successful person. It's not what happens to you in Life, it's how you respond and you can always respond positively.

As I said after dealing with Schizophrenia: "Suffering can be a blessing in disguise. The more you suffer, the deeper grows your character, and the more loving and compassionate you become."

Here's some pointers to help you with self-doubt:

1. Look to other people (like Nick Vujicic) who have overcome important challenges as inspiration: Something of a reminder that you yourself can also be successful, no matter what is happening or how much self-doubt you have. Remember, you can be successful.

2. Understand that failure is something that speeds up your ability to succeed and be successful. When you learn something from the experience, failure becomes a "steeping stone" to success. You succeed or you learn something: Either way, you win.

3. Appreciate that self-esteem is important to success. So consider practicing empowering affirmations such as: "I can succeed and I will do whatever it takes to accomplish my dreams." Also think about creating a Success Journal where you document past and present successes.
As one last thought:

"Whether you think you can, or you can't, you're right."¾Henry Ford.

i have been trying to Accomplish tranporting myself from one point to another on the planet with just my thought ..

self doubt is not a problem ..ok it is not the problem..

the problems are a very much un trained and under developed ego.. that has the job of hideing a hideously poor self image .

the difference between people who get things done ..and those who do not ..is not a lack of self doubt ..it is that people who get things done train themselves and build systems to push through the doubt and get things done .

three months ago i doubted my dream where close to posible at the moment..next tuesday i get on a plane to live on the other side of the planet for 6 months.. and my family has been trying to tal me out of it .

in any case remember .. you don't want a pilot who is self confident or filled with self doubt.. you want one who does the pre flight check list ..is not drunk or on drugs. and has land and taken off quite a few times .

same way with your syrgen .. laywers on the other hand ..hehe

oh i missed the henry ford quote ..

wasn't the henry ford story in think and grow rich..where people thought he was dome because he could not answer some trivia question .. instead he said he had a roladex ( for those of you who may be to young to know what one is.. at one time you had to keep track of phone numbers by writing them down.. you could use card with a persons name and phone number .. and place it on a roll .. and when you needed the number ..)

anyway he had a huge roladex with the numbers of experts in everything so if he really needed to know something .

The annoying part about self-doubt is that it is a daily battle. You can feel very courageous and confident one day and then feel weak, and doubtful the next day. It is important to stay consistent with your actions. You should be taking on challenges on a daily basis and strive to overcome adversity. The more you prove to yourself that you can and will overcome challenges, that self-doubt will go away little by little each day.

      Good point tvon.

It's in those times when you feel "weak" and "doubtful" that success shines. That's what separates the "winners" from the "losers."

The "winners" (pardon the expression) get on with it and take action anyway.

In times of doubt (etc.) it's good to remember people that have accomplished their dreams regardless of their "circumstances/disadvantages."

The thing that helped me most overcome self doubt is developing the intuitive mind / talking to Spirit / paying attention to my inner gut feelings. I loved your quote in the other thread Jonathan 2.0! It is consistency of purpose over the long term that brings success in the short term and long term! How true! I have never thought of it that way before. That is my greatest asset that has helped me for so, so long attract success and everything good in my life! Consistency of purpose! That is what helped me overcome all obstacles, talk to Spirit, overcome self doubt continuously (because it keeps coming up)! I will put a post in my blog about this. Thanks Jonathan 2.0! I think we are on the same track!

Self doubt is more common than most realize. I used to suffer from this myself. I was educated about mindfulness and it changed my life. I am now peaceful, joyful and SUCCESSFUL!

      True.

I think we all "suffer" from it from time to time. Hopefully though, my post was helpful for people that experience it on a regular basis.

I'd like to share a motto of mine whenever I think about giving up. "Fail Lures are what I need to catch the Big Fish that is called success." Nicely said. almost poetic.. Great reference to achieve success.

This isn't done by being flawless, but having the ability to overcome the obstacles you will face. Or as some people call them "Failures". Living a successful lifestyle will change your perspective of failure over time. This perspective changes to obstacles you will overcome or let go of, without effecting the direction of path.

Self-Doubt... Maybe you realized its impossible to do exactly what you wanted to do.. Maybe it is impossible. However, you still attempted it and gained knowledge, wisdom, or abilities which you have that others do not.

      Remember what doubt really is
      - It's just a thought.
      - You have become aware of an obstacle.
      - You're unsure if the task can be complete as expected
      - Aware of possible change that may be needed.

Use your doubt as a tool for preparation. It might be time for you to engage in ideas that support your goals.
Never let doubt be your final answer.
It might just mean you need to push and try harder!
