Written Affirmations question

I am an written affirmations addict and I have been for 15 years. They are very helpful for me mentally but there are two wanted side effects that I have noticed. The first is that no matter how positive I structure them, they give me panic attack/anxiety the same day and for a couple of days afterwards. The other side effect is that I find it hard to process information or connect the dots on problems for a couple of weeks after like my brain is blocked. Does anyone else experience these symptoms? Affirmations put me in a great state of mind but the side effects has made be quit and I miss how capable they make me feel. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Oscar, thanks for sharing this.

You have highlighted something very important for everyone to be aware of. While affirmations are great, we have to realize that its not the affirmations that make us happy. It is the act of performing and succeeding that usually makes me happy. The affirmations just keep me on track.

You say they used to put you in a great state of mind until the side affects came into play?
Was it possible because you had too much of one thing?
Have you seen successful results in your life in relation to your affirmations?

Another thing you can ask yourself is: Was I following the right path for me?
in other words: Were my affirmations my own affirmations?

Sometimes affirmations may sound good and make us feel good, but if they are not important to who we are inside, then we shouldn't try to connect too deeply with them.

I enjoy affirmations, and many will put a smile on my face, but only a few I abide by.

This may sound obvious, if it does forgive me. But have you used any affirmations to counter the panic attack/anxiety?

Or any that deal with your issue of processing information, problem solving or brain clearing or functioning?

YouTube has tons of free introductory videos that addresses these issues to start. And you can write any of the experts for further assistance or refferrals.

Affirmation is so important it's worth fighting to solve the problem so you can continue receiving the benefits without hindrances.

Thank you guys. I appreciate the input. Affirmations have helped me a great deal in my life. When I was reading affirmations, things just worked right in my life. Getting new jobs was a breeze because I prepare my mind with affirmations and I also felt my love life was also better but the anxiety also made me live a hermit life as I was avoiding neighbors and even got a telecommute job so I won't have to see co-workers. Since I stopped reading affirmations, I have found getting a new professional job incredibly frustrating as the interview process just seems so daunting. My kids do like when I don't read affirmations however because they say I am more hyper and aggressive when I read them. Anyway I will work through this and decide whats best for me and my family at this stage in my life. Thanks.

Oscar, from the little I've gathered in this thread, I don't think there is a cause-effect relation between your affirmations and your anxiety.

Your anxiety stems from a self-image issue; the affirmations simply trigger it. Once you recalibrate your self-image, I'm certain you'll be able to use these affirmations without anxiety or discomfort. Whatever the affirmations, they are in some way or form incompatible with who you really are/how you view yourself (at a self-image level). Read Psycho-cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz if you haven't already.

Something else to keep in mind: a poor diet, alcohol, caffeine, and prescription medication are major causes of anxiety. I have also noticed (no offense intended toward anyone here) that many people in internet marketing (or similarly time-consuming careers) have incredibly poor knowledge of nutrition. We won't go into details here, but take stock of what's going in your body. What you put in your body determines how you feel. Period.

Once you correct these minor issues, you won't need affirmations.
