Work-Life Balance - Warriors, How Do You Do It?

Hello Warriors,

How do you balance work-life? Especially people here who even have full-time or part-time job and have to manage a job + family + your IM ventures.. Isn't it challenging?
I'm even a college student and allocating my time with a long distance relationship + college + friends + IM isn't as easy as I'd hoped it would be. But I find keeping schedules and sticking to them unconditionally and patiently helps. And starting to say "No" and realising we can't do everything at once.

But yeah I'd love to hear about how you manage to balance and if you find it problematic and how you've gotten better at it, etc.

Cheers!

The best way to balance life-work-IM activity is to set parameters and stick to it. I do IM for 1 hr first thing every morning and 1hr last thing at night and during work breaks...I keep a tablet with me. Everyone is different so set goals and parameters and stick to it. Good luck.

I plan each day and week. This sometimes means I have days with no IM work and other times it means days with lots of IM work but it does enable me to juggle everything across a week.

  • Create a work schedule and stick to it. It helps give you time for both work and personal life. Because of my schedule, my friends and family know not to interrupt me when I'm working and I can focus on them when I'm not working.

Having a schedule or work routine also makes it easier to adapt to when I have to change my schedule for work or personal reasons. Like, if I have to miss work because of a family emergency that day, I can add hours to my set work schedule in the following days to make for the any work I may have missed.

Well said. Once you have a schedule its easier to draw the line for when its time to work and when its time to play. Set aside times for yourself to relax, inspire yourself, refuel, or even just blow off some steam with friends.
