What does courage mean to you?

"Courage" means different thing to different people.

What does courage mean to you?

Is it taking risks or being adventurous?

Or is it being honest with yourself about your mistakes? Being honest about your shortcomings?

Is it to trust that things will work out, even when you can't see how? Is it taking action even when you are afraid? Does it have to be something heroic?

Ask yourself what courage means to you. I believe then you need to keep pursuing that courage in action.

Courage, for me, means doing the things I should be doing when these things must be done.

Sometimes this means waking up early. Other times means giving up on people. In some special circumstances, it means starting everything from zero.

    Thank you,

For me, courage is about conquering our fear and overcome self-doubt. If we face something we fear to do, that's where we need courage to do it. If we doubt in making a choice, we need to have the courage to make the final decision. How? Don't think too much about the outcome, just take action and do what needs to be done.

Courage to me is being scared and doing it anyway. We all have a little hero inside of us waiting to show it's face. Courage is also having the guts to say you like something that others don't and not caring what others think. Like Twisted Sister. Now THAT took courage!

Yep. That's how I'd describe it as well. : )

Or, as Susan Jeffers put it:"Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway." (Courage isn't absence of fear. In fact, the more afraid you are of something, the more courage it takes to face it IMO.)

One of my favourite quotations (from Christopher Reeve) is:

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."

That quotation gave me great hope when I was struggling with life. We all have the opportunity to be courageous in our lives. So make the most of those opportunities. : )

Courage is not about being afraid as fear is a survival instinct that your brain generates to encourage caution. The difference between a coward and someone who has courage is the one with courage will simply push through the fear to face whatever horrible/evil/disastrous/amazing results await. If you can be that person with courage who can step through the fire, you will join the others who have done this before you.

I remember a very interesting story on "Courage"

Once there was a young boy whose sister was being operated and was in need of blood.
He volunteered to give blood to his little sister when his blood group was found matching.

When only one pouch of blood was taken the child was surprised. For he thought the doctor would take all his blood to save his sister. This is courage!!

To me, courage is doing something anyway even when you're scared about it. It could be when you're scared of heights, and you decide to jump the cliff into the crashing waters; it could be when you're frightened of being video recorded and yet you post a video of yourself on youtube; and it could be when you fear snakes and decide to overcome that fear by petting a tamed snake. To me, anyone having courage is just admirable.

Not following the crowd, until it validates or proves itself. Most people just follow the crowd because they always assume it's the safest, smartest and most logical choice.

Plus, it helps to free them from accepting personal responsibility and carrying the blame by themselves. That takes courage in today's 'crowd mentality' society.

Independent thinkers have to do just that 'think independently" and accept full responsibility or blame for the outcome.

That's really neat! And, in this situation, it's really the thought that counts. He was willing. How many adults can say they would have offered the same, even for a 'loved one'?

That's more like discipline, commitment, or dedication.

I think Courage is following through on an action where there was fear or anxiety and overcoming the fear or anxiety by following through on that action regardless.

To me, Courage means being scared out of your mind but charging forward even though. Courage is taking a calculated risk even if its uncomfortable!!! I need to take my own advice haha!
