What is the technical name for mobile function similar to SMS Short Code

I want to know the technical name for the function on mobile phones where you dial specific characters e.g. *4786# for different tasks like check your prepaid credit balance, access your mobile banking account etc.

It differs from SMS Short code because it does not require users to send an SMS with specific keyword, they simply dial a unique code after which they will receive different options.

I wanted know the technical term for such a platform and how it is made.

Abbreviated Dial Codes (ADC) or called Pound Codes in North America.
