Native or Web App? Which one should I go with?

Hi everyone,

I thought I might start this thread because this is something I hear a lot around me. A lot of companies decide to enter the mobile market in an effort to engage with their audiences better on mobile devices, however they are not really sure what type of app to choose.

This article talks about how to tackle this issue and gives some answers:

I would be very interested to see what everyone else thinks, both from a client- and agency-side point of view.

Are there any mobile app developers in this community who would like to share their views on this?

I'd say go with both. There's tools available now that can easily help you accomplish this, however if I had to go with one I'd choose native simply because the experience in a native app is so much better than within a web app.

What are you trying to accomplish with your app? Any sort of key pieces of functionality that you want to have in it or is it simply to display content? That is another important question as for content only a web app may be the way to go to avoid dealing with registering Apple and Google developer accounts.

My suggestion is, If your service do not need native support or if it is not mandatory go for a web version first.

If it is not enough your users will make you do the native version.

And again, when you have resources why not hunt both down?
