Hey. I haven't been on the forums for a while. I posted this thread in the main discussion forum but I didn't get any feedback and I felt it would be better suited here.

This time I'll also make the post much much shorter. Im a programmer and I've released a couple of WSOs before so this isn't a skill level inquiry.

Simply put would you in your opinion feel people would be interested in a true mobile app+website+backend suite WSO. A full in the box solution to selling websites+apps connected to a single backend controlled by the business to local businesses. Think selling to a gym a package where they could have clients install their app on their phone, sign up for accounts and manage those users/send them push notifications. Clients of the gym could log in at any time and check their membership status, get notifications, and login through both the website and the app.

Ive seen a couple of app related WSOs (I even released some app builders before). The main problems I see are this:

1. No uniformity ( the mobile website and app are usually two different designs and feels because you must get them from separate sellers)
2. Building an app vs a template (I honestly feel people don't want to build apps. They'd rather have a customizable template they can alter per client)
3. No real advantage to an mobile app as opposed to a mobile website

I feel including a backend/admin portal is what would really give business owners an upper hand as well as any reason to get the app at all. It's one thing to have a website that users might frequent but if you own an app on a device that users have 24/7 and you can instantly notify them through push notifications of deals, changes in schedules, etc. I feel it would be really beneficial. Especially if those users can register for accounts.

I would just like to get a couple opinions on this. Thinking of targeting a couple of different niches as well. Thanks in advance.

I think it is a great idea as long as it's your platform. Others have tried to sell a white labeled product as their own, they get discredited quickly. Since you say you are a programmer I will take your word for it.

You will need to have a boatload of viable features to compete with other platforms out there. Think Seattle Clouds, Biznessapps, and all the other mobile site/app platform WSO's on here.

I wasn't really thinking of a platform at the level of Biznessapps but just some templates for use with an HTML5 to app service like PhoneGap/Famo.us. Simpler to understand than native code and doesn't require a Mac to deploy to iOS for example and can reach a larger range of devices.

If you're familiar with codecanyon then something a long a group of templates you would get from there. The only difference being that these would be apps made to sell to small business owners as opposed to apps made for flipping/trying to make really big.

I'm not sure I follow you here but I'll throw a few things out for you to consider:

There are multiple WSO's by resellers of Seattle Clouds on here. Seattle Clouds has numerous templates and many of those are geared towards small businesses. I think most of the app building WSO's already on here offer templates and they are made for the non coder like me. Most have a drag & drop, cut & paste, or WYSIWYG type editor to build the apps.

Again, if you are going to make these to sell to small businesses you'll need multiple features geared towards them like online ordering, rewards/loyalty feature, geofenced push notifications etc...

Finally, there has been a long debate on here about the overall necessity of native apps vs. mobile sites/web apps on here. Apps were all the rage for a while but unless your app has features to keep the consumer engaged, like the ones listed above, they will be deleted. You can practically get all the same functionality off of a mobile site/web app these days anyway.
