I respectfully disagree. "Buying" an app store review is just as bad as it sounds. It ruins the community and will likely result in stiff penalties for you, if you ever get caught.

I think that buying reviews could get you banned if you're caught. There's nothing wrong with asking friends and family to test a review your app for you. They could also provide some good feedback before you get any bad reviews that could ruin your apps chances of success.

Many apps ask to write review. Or if that is a game app you can earn some coins by writing review. I mean to write review you need to be user of that application. In case with paid reviews - people who are writing review often not have apps installed at all and that fact is easy to discover. I believe that is what app developers are being punished for.

People review apps without install it? It must be fake reviews. I know that some provider selling real reviews, they would guide their reviewers install the app at first, and play it, then leave the reviews. Those reviews are good for apps. I also disagree with buying fake reviews.

Buying reviews is not good practice, but is very effective. Google and Apple do a lot to block artificial review. For example recently Google start cleaning install->rate->uninstall reviews.
