Hi, I am trying to find a freelancer developer for an app I need however after interviewing a few freelancers and asking them how many hours it would take them to create it, their replies vary extremely. For example one said 10h and another one 800h (and a few others between these extremes but still with big differences between each other) so for anyone else who has experience hiring developers how do you choose a freelancer. Additionally it's not a matter of how clear I described the app since I showed them an existing app and ask them how many hours they would need to create the exact same app... |

Inexperienced developers will almost always greatly underestimate the level of effort required. There are other issues that are not immediately obvious like code quality, scalability, performance, maintainability, UI design and so on that the cheaper developer will probably neglect. The developer also has to support you after the release by fixing bugs. However, sometimes all you need is a throwaway app, so it doesn't make sense to spend a ton of money on one. There are applications out there that allow non-programmers to create mobile apps - check those first to see if you can simply your application enough to create it in one of those. |
