Can iPhones view youtube videos?

Can iPhones playback youtube videos? I was thinking of setting up a QR code for myself that went to a video on youtube, but wasn't sure if the iPhone (or other phones for that matter) will be able to play it back.

Basically, what happens on an iPhone if you click on a Youtube link?

I have an HTC Thunderbolt using Android which allows me to view flash, but was curious about other phones.

Flash is not supported by APPLE

HTML5 will be the norm in the mobile industry.

But who knows in a year from now

This does not answer his question. Yes, youtube videos can be played on Apple devices and also my Blackberry device. They won't work across ALL devices but a lot of the most popular ones will play them.

IPhone can not play Flash BUT it probably has a application which is able to decode youtube videos (so the answer is yes, you can view youtube videos on IPhone).

I have youtube videos playing off wap sites for every one of my clients and they work on every iphone !!

windows mobile 7 wont play them though

Youtube videos play but not in the normal gui your used too. The best way to see how a gui would look on a iphone is to look at a wii youtube videos. Youtube pushes a html 5 page with a mp4 video made for mobile to your iphone. If you are looking to push youtube videos and make money on mobile the two do not mix unless you figure out a cool MINI video in smaller format to push....

Thanks everyone.

I was recently speaking to a new client I picked up and was going to offer the suggestion of creating a youtube video that promoted his business and putting a QR code to that video on some of his print advertising he does in local magazines.

But I wanted to make sure that most people will be able to view it before I suggested it.

Yes they can, my iphone has youtube on the home screen and it came like that.

Put the Youtube embed code in your website size it to fit and you are done!

Yes, you can view YouTube videos on iPhone. I have an iPod touch, which almost has the same functionalities of the iPhone (without calling features of course), and I can watch videos there.

In fact, even a BlackBerry Bold 9700 or 9780 lets you watch YouTube.

It depends what you are talking about though. Yes, on my Blackberry 9700 you can watch a Youtube video on the Youtube website but if someone has embedded a Youtube video on their webpage, you can't watch those videos. On iPhones you can. It all depends what we are talking about here. Youtube embeds or regular videos on the Youtube site.
