qr code scans on the screen but not on paper...

So I tried to customize a qr code for my business card on my own. I was able to scan it on screen with 1 scanner but not the other. Then I printed it and it did not scan at all. I colored the 3 squares then outlined them with black lines, I also added my logo behind the qr code. It was printed out at 300 dpi...any suggestions did I miss a step ?

Probably best if you could post an image of it we can all check out?

FYI - I've found some scanners are good and some are bad. The inigma scanner on my Blackberry used to work quite well but I've noticed lately it doesn't really work scanning any images on the computer screen - only those offline. The Red Laser app on my iPhone however works really well with just about any QR code.

This is the reason I suggest you always include the url underneath the QR code or even down the side. There will be some people who can't scan it or don't even have a scanner. It's a wasted advertisement if you don't also cater to those people.

Use the highest resolution image possible- save in PDF and then print.

Also, make sure the contrast between the paper and the print is high.

You mentioned it was on a business card. Don't make it too small on the card. I would try printing out the code on a piece of paper in varying sizes just to see how well your phone is scanning it.

Usually, it is best to have the most up to date QR code scanner you can find.

My suggestion on the proper size for a QR code on a business card is that it be no smaller than 1 by 1 inch however, most QR codes on business cards are at least 1.75 by 1.75 inches.
