Mobile web phone pitch that works
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hello warriors, so I've been calling companies and using scripts that I've found on the forum but no result. Secondly, it is hard to get these business owners on the phone. I've been mostly calling restaurants and bars. Any tip on when is the best time to call and a better pitch to set up a meeting with them?

this is an example of a pitch i used "Hi, my name is ......, I am a local business owner in town and I found you on my mobile phone and noticed you don't have a mobile ready website. I would like to set up a meeting with you to show you the benefits of having a mobile site.

Some business owners say, my webmaster is already working on that for met etc...

Usually the people who answer the phone think im trying to sell something right away and don't allow me to talk to the decision makers.

Futhermore, I'm a little hesitant on using the picth from this post http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...st-3years.html due to the fact that i don't plan on creating a site to highlight local companies. But if this is the route i should take, i would not mind.

Please help

Think about the quietest times in a restaurant. The best time to call is probably right between lunch and dinner service. Not right after the lunch service and not right before the dinner service... in between when they are still around but things are nice and quiet.

Don't call at the beginning of the day or the end of night. I've found these the worst times to call as people aren't as interested in talking business at these times. Also think about the best time of the week to call. Obviously a Monday is going to be much quieter than a Friday. Do you think someone is going to be more open to a conversation on getting more business when there restaurant is full and buzzing or empty?

In regards to catching the owner, I've often found the owners are around on quieter days like Sundays and Mondays as a lot of them don't want to pay staff for the quiet times. If the owner doe snot answer then the best way to get them on the phone is to have done some research BEFORE the call and find out their name. That way you can simply ask for them by name.

If an owner tells you their webmaster is already working on it then simply move along. I doubt you will get many of those types of responses though.

I agree with Will as far as the time to call. To find the owner's name, try using Company Profiles & Company Information on Manta.

As for a pitch, one that I use that has had some success goes something like....

"Hi, this is Mike and I was looking at your website on my cell phone and noticed that it was hard to read. I happen to have a small business in the area that builds websites specifically for mobile phones and would like to create a sample version of your site. I can then stop by sometime this week and show you how it looks and works."

I then stop and wait to hear what they say. It's sometimes a quick "no thanks", but usually they'll start asking specific questions. That's a good sign. Just answer them in a friendly conversational manner and eventually set up the appointment.

Mike
