Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of putting together 2 membership sites and am using Digital Access Pass for both of them with OptimizePress. Awesome combination! But My problem is I want to make these sites available for mobile access without being annoying for the user to login. I have a great theme in wordpress that makes this easy but am having issues with the database side of things. My problem is I want the login for mobile access to go to m.mysite.com and this is not the problem. My problem is having the same information on the sub-domain as the main domain (mysite.com). Has anyone ever tried to do this? I believe it is doable if somehow you can either do the following: 1. have the Digital Access Pass database from mysite.com accessed from m.mysite.com 2. have a task that copies the database from Digital Access Pass on the main domain (mysite.com) everyday and override the current database on m.mysite.com. Hope this isn't getting too confusing but this would make things very helpful as Mobile access is a big bonus for me on these sites! Thanking anyone for their suggestions on this! |

Switch to android? Seems to be such a great deal for LG, Motorola and Sony Ericsson It is a race to the bottom with very little chance of differentiation and WP7 is looking really good with Mango. I would recommend WP7 over Android to any no...

First of all I'd be interested to know what content is inside the members area. There's no point giving people mobile access to your membership area if the content inside is not suitable for viewing on mobile devices. Are they large video files, pdf files, etc? If so I probably would not give people that option. I actually had a member of my course send me an email complaining that my membership area (that teaches people how to create mobile sites) was not mobile friendly itself. I told him that no one is going to want to sit there on a mobile device and download 200MB+ of video files. Also half the files were html and css files that he couldn't do anything with on a mobile device anyway. After a few emails back and forth he finally saw my point. Some things are just not meant for mobile and that is why PC's will never be redundant. |

You always have to think things through. Some people will get it right away, and some will not. The member of your course questioning why you did not have a mobile version is a good example. Mobile websites always need to be simple first. |

So is there any workable solution to the OP's problem? I'm interested in the same setup.

If i am not mistaken you want to share the WordPress database with multiple installs of WP, so you can have the same content/login info? If yes then as far as i know there is no easy fix for that... i have been looking hard for a solution like that. I talked to a PHP/MYSQL programmer and he sad that it can be done, but due to the database changes when WP updates he would be needed to do his regular updates, and that would have a regular prize tag... i figured it was to much of a hassle so i steered away from it... It is probably not what you wanna hear, but maybe i can save you some time and frustration when testing all those old hacks from the WP forum (trust me on this, they don't work) . Dave |

The concept is cool, but as mentioned above most of your content would not be suitable for mobile viewing. I think your time and resources can be better used in adding value to your members in other ways. Good luck | |

Hey sorry i never seen these responses until now. From then I must say I played around with the coding of the DAP, and found that if you go into the DAP system files, you can change the name and location of the database file - and BAM Success! I had a mobile version of my website that I was able to use for mobile devices - but there was still another problem I ran into - the theme. If OptimizePress had a mobile version of their theme then this would be perfect! Yellow Green Media: I'm not a programmer but I was able to find a solution and works perfectly – basically install DAP go into the settings files, and copy the database name, setting, and location so it uses the other database but only if you have a theme that can handle the membership area that is designed for mobile access – does anyone know about this?... OptimizePress if only you did a mobile theme I would love you even more! I am going to hit them up about this one day shortly as this would solve so many issues for me and maybe take their theme to a next level? WillR: Your comments are welcomed, and very valid. But yes my content is actually something that could be very useful for people to accessed on mobile device and we are looking at going down this road. The content we are running now are in the weight loss industry - I have teamed up with a extra-ordinarily brilliant personal trainer, Natural Body Sculpting Champion, very successful personal Training business owner and runner, was runner up to be on one of the large weight loss TV shows, represented the country for sports a few times, etc. and we are looking for affiliates very soon if anyone is interested in a new product that has been designed by someone who gets results! Has thousands of clients to back up her teachings! But our current program is not one that needs mobile access, but our future ones would be great to be accessed for people while at the gym - this is something we will be looking at trying to do. So definitely something I will look into. |
