Best Pricing for Mobile Sites
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Can you guys give me a realistic price range to charge for mobile websites... including up to 5 pages and click to call?

I would like to charge $497 for completely custom sites that maintain the branding of their current site... not sites built of templates.

However, with these little $19/month template builder sites out there, I'm wondering what you guys have found to be the "sweet spot" for a custom site.

Thanks!

Robin

I think $497 is a bit too much.

Start with $197. Pretty nice price, even if you outsourcing.,

$197 is a tad low IMO. Why go so low? To most businesses, they expect to pay for quality, and I don't think charging $397 instead of $197 will make you lose many sales, and in the end you'll make a lot more money.

You can also go monthly only (ex: $37/m)

Quentin, do you charge both the $397 and the monthly?

I have no idea where you are but pricing changes a bit where you are located, but generally between 300-350 would be good for that amount of pages.

I do only custom designed sites, usually 5 pages or more, my minimum is $699. I have charged as high as $1200. No monthly, small modifications I don't charge depending on the client.

It really depends on the client and what they need.

I'll charge anywhere from $297 for a quick basic 5 page mobile site up to $597+ if they want more intricate, customized solutions. I will also offer them a CMS solution for a monthly charge but only if I can see it is something that is going to add value to them.

If it's a business where they are rarely going to need to update their site then I won't sell them on the CMS as it's not needed.

I think it depends on the product. Something like this for basic I would expect to pay 299 to 399. Something more advanced goes up from there.

I do agree that $197 is to low. $300-$447 is the sweet spot IMO.

Even with the template mobile sites out there...business owners don't have time, resources, or energy to build one themselves.

I read a quote somewhere that said:

You think hiring a professional is expensive? Wait until you hire an amateur.

If they run a business, they *should* want a professional to handle their web presence.

Yes true that there are template services out there but I think of it like this; they could use these services but knowing how, why and how to leverage it takes a significant amount of time investment.

This is akin to designers. The change done in a photoshop file take 2-5 mins, learning how to do the change in 2-5 mins takes 5 years of experience. Hence they charge accordingly.

Charge what the market will bare, not a cent more and certainly not a cent less.

Just had one of our members start with 150GBP / $200 (which is extremely cheap) but has them on a monthly recurring payment of 15GBP - all automated by PayPal!

I price nowadays at $300 plus. Saying that I now get my brother to do all the selling!

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the input... I think I will try $347 & see how it goes.

I'm gathering from most of your answers that you don't charge a monthly "hosting" fee...

It's hard to justify a monthly hosting fee when they already have their own domain and hosting for their standard website. If you want to build a sustainable business then ethics need to come before profits.

I'd only charge hosting if the site requires 99.9999% uptime and it gets hit with ridiculous traffic. For example 100000 visitors per month.

I haven't had the need to do this with traditional website clients and certainly none of the mobile clients. So I've not had the need to charge hosting.

Hosting is so cheap at the low traffic end of the game that I usually throw it in. Also, as WillR said, some already have this setup for their "Full HD" site :p
