I know at first glance having someone send a text message to have a donation added to their cell phone bill sounds like a good idea, but in reality I don't think it is... 1. You will only be able to accept donations from the people that are on carriers that would be willing to work with you. So you are leaving out a Large portion of your donation base. 2. The Carriers will take a large % of the donations for themselves. this could actually be close to 50% in a lot of cases. 3. it will take for ever for the Charity to see any money at all. After the waiting period, hold back and fees... you could have a very disappointed Charity that put months of effort into something that did not work out the way they had planned. Now that is the Bad News.... The Good News is that you can still use SMS Text to raise money for a charity... Instead of having someone donate by just sending in a text message, have them text in to find out how they can donate... Then send them a link to a mobile website where they can enter their information and donate with a credit card right on their phone... or make it easier for them and send them a phone number they can call to donate over the phone. The advantages of this is that.. 1. You can allow anyone and everyone participate. 2. Your fees are the regular 2-4% credit card processing fees that it cost to process the donation... instead of close to 50%! 3. Your Charity gets their money in a Day or Two, depending on how long their credit card merchant bank takes to process the credit card donations... Instead of the 3 to 6 months it would take if the money came from the cellular carriers. If you are serious about doing something like this let me know and I will help all I can. We have worked with some pretty big Charities doing exactly what I have described above. |

hey man imo best way would be to do a QR campaign that goes directly to paypal and donates from there. Its not recurring and its quick and simple. |

Why not instead of doing a txt to donate, try a txt to save angle. Check out my signature for more information. You will be helping out the charity and definitely their subscribers and people that are interested. hope it helps.

1: Open a paypal account for them 2: Go to QRifier | QR code marketing | All in one QR-code generator 3: Select "QR Instant Paypal Payment or Donation" 4: Create the QRcode 5: Post it to a splash page and/or text it Get donations fast easy and with minimal processing fees. I have no clue whether Paypal has any programs for non-profit but do recommend contacting them to find out. Perhaps they will give a better rate. Hope this is helpful. |

With this in mind, that a text to donate service is not so straight forward, I do like the idea of using paypal. I am assuming that people can just input their card details to make payment and dont actually have to be signed up to paypal though, is that right?? | |
