The kind of "hot flash" that Don (midasman09) talks about... So, one of the parents at my kids school wants to start a "cheer group" for the sports teams...... make up chants to yell at the games, etc. I have created a mobile site for this endeavor..... The idea is to put the qr code on the athlete rosters they hand out at the games with a "scan the code with your smartphone to visit our cheer group site". Plus, I'm going to make some posters up to place around the school with the qr code on them as well. The site has the chants on youtube vids so folks can listen and learn before they go to the games, a roster page with the athletes info, current news page, schedule page with tap for directions to the away games, etc. Now, I started out not planning on monetizing this, just as a cool thing for the school......... BUT, that's when the HOT FLASH hit Around the school gym, up high on the walls are banners for the local businesses that sponsor the school/teams. So, I am thinking... how about approaching these businesses about sponsoring a page on the site, or have a "sponsors" link with the businesses listed on their own page. Heck, you could do both... the "page sponsor" could be a "premium" listing. I'd share the sponsor revenue with the school..... a win/win/win. Everybody benefits. Plus, I could offer the businesses a link to their own "mobile friendly" site!! Then, I thought..... why stop there. Why not offer other schools a FREE "cheer site" that would also raise some funds for the school. They could contact their existing sponsors about this new way to advertise. You could potentially do this for schools anywhere, really. What do you think? Any twists to add to this? Ronnie |

Hi Ronnie Great idea. Re: Any twists to add to this? Depending on the businesses of course I presume you will be offering them their own mobile website if they do not have one which you will create for them of course, choose a domain name for them etc. Ricky Allen |

Congrats on this idea, it sounds like a winner! I think everyone needs to have this mentality of doing something for nothing. In this case you're helping out by providing this mobile web solution and in turn, because of some clever thinking you should get some clients from it! Good things come to those who give something first.
I might start a new thread on this topic, but thought I'd ask you since it was in your reply here. Thanks. | |
