How to set up a client for mobile opt-in?

What's the best and easiest way to set up a customer to use a mobile opt-in form? For instance....

I want to create a mobile page that presents a coupon offer but requires the visitor to enter their email address. The autoresponder will then go to a mobile page with a coupon and thank them for entering their address. It will also add them to my customer's email campaign.

The issue I'm having, however, is which email - autoresponder to set it up with. I know there's Constant Contact, Chimp Mail, Get Response, etc. but which is the easiest to use (figuring my client isn't very techie) and also inexpensive?

I can create the mobile site using HTML or Wordpress (thanks to Will and Quentin) and the autoresponder must work with mobile sites (if that's even an issue anyway).

Mike,

Any of those autoresponders above should work fine with mobile devices. The squeeze page and thank you page are going to be created by you AND mobile friendly so it won't be an issue.

In regards to finding one that's easy for your customer to use, I would always offer to manage it for my customers instead. This means you can charge them a monthly maintenance fee and also means you are not going to have to deal with all the support questions when clients are trying to play around with things. If you set it up for them you could also use an affiliate link so you get a commission for every month they use that autoresponder.

I personally use Aweber for all my lists. The great things about Aweber is that you can use the built in web form generator to create a nice looking web form, and then by adding just one piece of code, you can use that Aweber web form as the actual mobile landing page. This makes things much easier.

Thanks for the suggestion Will.

Can you use one Aweber account (say my own account) to manage customer accounts? Or do you have to have each customer signed up with their own account?

Just thinking that I could have one account under my name for $49 or whatever per month, but use it for 3 or 4 or however many of my customers and charge them $19/mo each....or something like that.

I don't believe there would be any issue using the one account to manage multiple lists. Actually having said that, I'm not sure you can change the global address settings that show at the bottom of each email. You would have to look into that to see if it can be changed on a list basis.

providing the autoresponder doesn't use !important tags within the CSS styling you can usually create your own custom css to style and integrate the forms direct into your mobile site... doing this gives you far greater control over how the form looks within your mobile site and also makes for better seamless integration

aweber and icontact don't use the !important css tag but i know getresponse does... why? i have no idea! it makes it a royal pain to customize, basically they force you to use their limited form generator and limits your freedom of customization...

fyi i prefer aweber - the non use of !important being one of the reasons!

@OP you don't have to have them email either... the visitor is already on their phone... wouldn't it be better for them to submit their phone number and they receive a confirmation text with the coupon or a unique link to the actual coupon... that way your client can text them instead of emailing them... just food for thought!

If your US based and know your way around twilio and openvbx you can configure it so as they tap to call and it subscribes them to a text blast list via a phone call... there are so many different ways you can keep in touch with your mobile visitors and up sell to them! Don't you just love mobile marketing!

Well, I had a chat session with someone from Aweber and they said that you can use 1 aweber account for as many websites and email addresses that you want. Each email campaign will have it's own email and branding.

Which means to me that we can use a personal Aweber account to manage our client's email campaigns without having them signing up themselves.

I'm guessing this would provide a big opportunity for anyone pushing their clients to build lists through their mobile sites. More residual income.

Great, I thought so but couldn't remember exactly.

As I said before, give their web form generator a go and once you have the code, simply add this one line to the page:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=2.0, user-scalable=no" />

That way the optin form will stretch and shrink to fit all the mobile devices. You can come up with nice looking optin pages very easily using this technique.
