These days people have tons of email script for promoting mobile marketing. But what most of these wso do not provide is a good subject line opening to go with the email script. What can we put on the subject to entice a potential customer to open up the email? advice please!

If they already have a website then something like: "Re: Website Enquiry..." It doesn't matter what you say so long as you get people to open it. Having said that your subject line cannot be deceptive - it must be related to the subject of the email as per the Can Spam Act. So if you are contacting them about something to do with their website then the above subject line is fine. Also something like "Problem with your website..." might work as well depending on what service you are contacting them about. Just put yourself in the shoes of the business owner and think about those typical subject lines that would have some meaning for them. |

Creating a good subject line that grips a readers attention isn't as hard as you might think. You just have to go about doing it in a slightly different way then what you may have heard in the past. That way is as follows. First, understand this about the people you're sending your email offers to. They are like everyone else in that they are interested in anything that concerns himself, such as his welfare, his comfort, his ambitions, his desire to make more money etc. Now, once you fully understand that, you can understand that you have to simply find the source from which you will draw your ideas to put into your subject lines. That primary source from which you can secure those ideas that will grip the readers attention are from the readers own interests. So for instance. If you're writing to restaurant owners. Those owners will have certain interests in which they are willing to give their attention to. In your subject line to them you would simply talk about or address those interests. Now let's say that the restaurants you were targeting usually are slow on Tuesday nights. Do you think the owners know that? Yes they probably do. Do you think that is something that would be on their minds and would be interested in knowing how to fix this problem? Yes it would be. So what would you put in your subject line? Of course, something that talks about that interest. Like say..."7 cheap and simple ways for you to never have a slow sales Tuesday ever again" And that's it. This info is a good starting point for you to be able to craft interest grabbing subject lines. Hope that helps. |

Stick to pattern interrupts. Although it sounds weird, think about all those emails that you receive from spammers that you actually open. There's a LOT to be learnt from them. What do they all have in common? They are written in such a way that they appear personal but they talk to everyone. It's much the same way the star signs in the paper are written. They are written in a way that everyone who reads them will feel like they have been written specifically for them - however they are really just a bunch of generalized comments relating to things we ALL go through on a daily basis. So when a spammer sends out an email saying "Order details: Please confirm your address", because such a large proportion of people are buying things online nowadays, there are a lot of people who will not be able to delete that email without at least opening it and checking it out. If they delete it they fear they might be deleting something to do with a recent purchase. These are the types of email subjects you want to use. So as I said above, things like "Re: Website Enquiry" are going to work well for a lot of businesses. If they have a website they will find it hard to delete an email like that without opening it first.

Also with that line you might want to add the company name. This makes it more personal, especially if it's the owner you're sending it to. Also, people love seeing their name - or more specifically - their business name. Then it won't seem like a generic email.

It's worth testing. There is a lot of spam that goes around these days that also uses people's first names and company names... so it's not always going to mean better open rates. You need to test it and see what works best for you. I am very wary about opening any emails that have my name in them - 90% of the time they are junk or spam.
