Anyone integrating Aweber (or other mobile forms) into their mobile sites for clients?

Does it fit well with the rest of the finger-friendly interfaces?

Have you looked NeilB's mobile landing page? It is designed based on Aweber's platform. Very easy code to include once you look at what it does. I believe aweber shows you how to incorporate this also.

Aweber can be made to be mobile friendly - you just need to do custom css overrides... from what i have seen they don't offer anything out of the box that allows for lets say mobile fat fingers! lol

It works great. We have already built a number of lead generating mobile websites for our clients using Aweber. Only thing is you will need to disable the double op-tin in order to make the experience a little more mobile friendly.

The great thing about these lead generating sites is that clients can immediately see the benefits of having a mobile site. Therefore you can charge substantially more for these type of mobile sites.

That probably makes a lot more sense and you can still give away the free report by sending the url via SMS.

Also, instead of an e-mail you'll have a phone number.

I don't know,glad you asked. I am a client and had to sign up for aweber for a website I purchased. I just hope its worth the 19.00 a month.

Jay any chance you can share the code to make an aweber form's input fields and submit button rounded like that?

Or is there a website you recommend that provide sample scripts for such things?

Hi Dexx each aweber form is unique and has unique css style tags - what i have done is built a custom mobile framework that converts both aweber and icontact autoresponder forms to mobile its done dynamically so unfortunately its not something i can copy and paste for you

however take a look at this:

look at the css and create css !important overrides to override the ones served up by aweber - more about css !important overrides here

I would highly recommend if your not already using firefox with the developer plugin firebug to start reading up on it

the autoresponder companies certainly dont make it an easy task thats for sure - either way if you dont know how to do this already it will certainly improve your skill set!

You are not actually manipulating the Aweber code to create the styling - you can but it's not the best way to do things. Aweber just like any other autoresponder can be integrated into ANY form you have built yourself. If you have a decent mobile website template then it should come with some sort of contact form setup already. Once you've got the contact form setup already it's just a matter of inserting the aweber code into the correct places in that form and bobs your uncle.

Hi Will can you expand more on what you mean i must be overlooking something as I am not overly familiar with Aweber

if I do this manually and drop in the "mobile form code" it shows a form layout like the one on the left in my screenshot, but never integrates as well as a i want it too - so i would have to use the css overrides to get the result i want as shown on the right...

are you saying that the css styling of a form objects in a existing template should be suffice to make it match when you drop in the code? ie the already themed input fields and input button would be styled accordingly to your existing theme. It would make sense and life a lot easier if this where the case when doing it manually!

When i initially looked at the code each element appeared to be uniquely identified and styled - hence why i went with overrides... but this was for a more dynamic on the fly approach it styles the aweber form at the click of a button. I know there are certainly more than one way to do things that's for sure, anything that helps doing it manually has got to be a winner!

If i am understanding what you are saying there is no guarantee the template you are using has themed form elements, like you said a decent template to begin with helps but it if it doesnt have that styling or you have to custom build something from scratch its still good to know how to use css overrides in my book

What I'm saying is, if I have a simple contact form already setup and styled on my mobile website, if I want to use that form for Aweber then all I would need to do is add a few parts of the Aweber optin code to that form. I don't want to use ANY of the Aweber style code. The same would then apply with all the other autoresponders out there. You just add the parts of the form code that count and you can keep the style of your current form whilst using it with any autoresponder you want.

If I wanted to use my current form with Aweber I would...

1. Change the form post action to the following:

<form method="post" action="http://www.aweber.com/scripts/addlead.pl">

2. Include all the hidden input fields from your Aweber code. They look like this:

<input type="hidden" name="redirect" value="http://www.mywebsite.com/confirm.html" />
<input type="hidden" name="meta_redirect_onlist" value="http://www.mywebsite.com/download.html" />

<input type="hidden" name="meta_message" value="1" />
<input type="hidden" name="meta_required" value="email" />

You may have more or less of these. From your Aweber code they are all the lines that start with <input type="hidden"

3. Make sure your text boxes input names match the ones from your Aweber code. In the example below this box is used to collect the email address so the name of this input field must match the same field name from Aweber. For email the input name in Aweber is 'email'.

Once you add those things, if done correctly, your form will now work with Aweber. You don't need any of the Aweber styling code, just use the form you already have.

So an example form working with Aweber might look like this:
