hello warriors I'm testing 2 aproches when I'm meeting with prospects : mainly small biz to see which 1 resonates & has the most powerfull impact on the prospect 1.to educate them about the changes that goes around nowadays & that they are missing out of alot of potential customers 2.to show them how to position their business in a more professional, advanced , relaible way compare to their competitors which 1 worked better for you? |

I think we are still at a point where most small business customers can take a look around at their competitors and find plenty of them without mobile sites. So for a lot of these companies "losing potential customers" wouldn't register as a legitimate reason. They've been doing business since 19xx without a mobile site and they seem to be just fine. Same with their competitors. I know that it is a lot easier to describe what all types of OTHER COMPANIES are doing with mobile sites, but I think small business customers are more concerned with what THEY could be doing with a mobile site.

I have done a mobile website for a small coffee & sandwich place because i know the lady that owns it i didn't charge her money but we have agreed that i can use her site and stats for my promotions and so i can use her Google analytic stats to show other business owners how much people are visiting her site with a mobile phone.... Now when i go to a meeting i bring my phone with me and i show them her stats (about 20% of her visitors is mobile traffic and she gets about 500/600 unique visitors a month) and then i tell them that they are loosing business because of the way their site looks in a phone. I also show them a demo site i made for them and i never have heard a business owners say well sorry this is not something i want, i show them that they ARE loosing customers... its all about positioning.. Don't go telling them that they they will receive more visitors because of your mobile website, (because more then not this isn't the case) tell "and more important" show them that it is the user experiences that will fill their tables (if you're in the restaurant niche). I agree with YellowGreenMedia. Its not about increasing customers, but taking advantage of the visitors they are already getting to their website. I posted in another thread earlier about my google analytics from the past month showing that one of my client's site is getting about 29% of visitors redirected to their mobile site. So about 30% of visitors are accessing their site from a mobile device. And the most visited page after the home page is..... the "coupon" page! So for restaurants, get the coupons they are already using in paper form posted as a tab on their mobile site. Have visitors show the coupon from their mobile device when ordering. Management will quickly see how many people are using their phones to get those coupons. This makes you look invaluable. My client recently told me that they would like to get rid of all of the monthly expense for the offline paper coupons and direct mail they currently use. They got rid of YP a few months back. At the rate they are going, I have saved them thousands per year by incorporating an online mobile presence. |
