Hey All, Firstly thanks for a great forum i have picked up so much good information. My question i can not seem to find an answer to so hoping a smart cookie can give me two mins of there time with an answer. If my client already has a web site and just wants a mobile site done how do i put this on to there server? Or do i put it on mine? I guess what i am saying is most people have no idea where there web site is hosted and want to make things simple. Thanks In Advance Scott |

You want control over the entire process so hosting them on your server would be the ideal thing to do. Anyone want to chime in?. |

Hi there, If your client already has a website and simply wants a mobile site, I would just create a subdomain in their hosted server and upload the files there. In the future, as an added service to your clients, look into a reseller program and offer this as a service fee. You will also have better control of client domains. |

I use the customer's exisiting hosting and create a subdomain. If your clients main site is yourclientssite.com, then you would set up the mobile subdomain as m.yourclientssite.com. No sense in charging your client for additional hosting if they already have hosting. I understand that you can make residual income by providing hosting in some cases, but I have found that customers are thrilled they don't have to buy additional hosting and often call back for additional services. |

Yeah that's correct but in my case we are using a design that auto fits on viewing with PC, tablet or mobiles phones it even changes layout when you change the orientation of your device. So try to make a singular design that fits for all or either go with Magnum's reply. he's also good at it | |

If you are hosting the mobile site then you will need to place a mobile device redirect script into the <head> tags of the businesses main website. That script still needs to be there even if they are hosting it, but the site address would be altered accordingly within the script code. The Mobile Redirect Script will automatically redirect traffic to the mobile site when it identifies the site is being accessed via a mobile device. |

I always try to sell my hosting plan: with subdomain - monthly charge (cheaper) (updates: no updates , ( 1x monthly or 4x monthly) with .mobi domain - monthly charge (more expensive) (updates: no updates, 1x monthly or 4x monthly ("premium")) ---------------or----------------- Site on client server without monthly charge but extra fee for service and updates if he needs |

I suggest you to have a hosting for your mobile site so you have full control on your mobile site. Also you can add a small fee for hosting or say hosting is free but charge it with your mobile site design.
