Question About a Specific Mobile Site Builder
Share on:

I came across a link to this site in another thread on this forum and I'm having trouble evaluating the pros and cons of the system this business is promoting.

The site I'm looking at is: CMS Mobile - Create Killer Mobile Sites In Minutes - No Technical Skills!

I'm not trying to promote this site, but I am interested in what is being offered - but, I am way out of my league when it comes to evaluating whether or not this is a good thing.

My question is:

Would this script (it's a php5 script) have to be loaded on each site where you wanted to create a mobile site? And if you were creating sites for businesses, would each business have to buy the program and have it uploaded to their own site? I'm presuming the answer is yes.

There is very little info on the site, and I tried sending an email to the owner, but have not heard anything back. It looks like a nice system - sort of a wordpress-like interface for creating and editing your mobile site.

Any comments on this system or anything 'awful' that I'm not seeing in creating sites using this type of script?

This script was originally created by a guy called Dylan Jones who creates products like this and then sells the resale rights to that product to anywhere from 40 -100 people who then go on to sell the script. What you are looking at it just one person who is reselling this script.

This script turned out to actually be very buggy and the mobile sites it created relied heavily on javascript and other things that are not good for mobile websites. It was quite clear to me after a little testing that the script was not put together by someone who actually knew much about mobile website design.

One of the guys reselling this script, and I won't mention his name, totally blew it on customer support and once he had sold hundreds of copies he just ignored any technical support or refund requests.

Sure, the sites look ok but I would steer well clear of this one if I were you.

Thanks Will - I was hoping you'd respond. I'm a bit disappointed that this script does not get a good review - it really looks like a handy dandy tool.

However, I tend to smell a rat when there is no contact info on a website, the domain is private, and there is little information about what the product is and does, plus no guarantee with what is being offered. This website is nicely presented; the videos are well done, but I still didn't feel confident enough to evaluate whether or not it was a good thing.

So I really do appreciate your input! I was referred to this script by a friend who already has your Mobile Offline Business in a Box (and loves it) but he wanted to know if I knew anything about this program, and I didn't. So now I do and can pass along the information. I don't actually do mobile sites myself, though I am interested in how they are made and may jump back into the harness again some day and have another go at website design stuff.

No problems.

If you were looking for something along those lines that actually does what it says on the box, then you might want to check out this product: MobileBusinessPlus - Start your own mobile website business

Not affiliated with it in any way but it is a similar system to the one you were interested in.
