How to create a URL mobile app..help !

I know how to create a custom app icon for my mobile site, by going to the "ad to home page" tab on my iPhone, iPod, or iPad.

But I want to sell this service where an app goes to the events page on a mobile site for a restaurant.

Is there a way to create an app that is downloadable on an iPhone and it will create an icon that when launched will go to the events URL?

I just think it is tedious to require customers to use the "ad to home page" tab.

What I would love is a download link on this events page that allows iPhone users to down load the app onto their home page.

Is this possible?

I'm confused. Isn't it more tedious to make your customers download and install an app rather than just click one simple button that says 'Add to Homescreen'?

Yes! the user needs simplified versions to use and i think the simpler the method to download the better it would be.

In line with what Will is saying, a better question would be can you create a link on your mobile website that saves the site to your homescreen? (Instead of the usual way)

Would love to know if this is possible.
