How to check if a customer has a Mobile website using Google Chrome
Share on:

Lots of ties we want to see if a customer has a mobile website so we can easily do this with Google chrome. You can also do it with Firefox using a similar method.

Hope this helps.

What do you use?

Q,

Seen this earlier - linked in your email - like it.

I hope this isn't considered off-topic,

but do you prefer working with FF or Chrome?

Or just download Safari and you can select the user agent right from the toolbar without having to install any plugins or set anything up.

wislndixie, just use en-gb test-your-site-overview Test Your Site

It will redirect to mobile site if there is one for the website you
want to check.

Hi Will,

Could you elaborate please? I'm using Safari version 5.1.7 and I must be blind but I can't see anything referring to a user agent.

Thanks in advance

Mark

FOUND IT
For others who are looking, you need to tick "Show Develop menu in menu bar" which is found in the "Advanced" tab of "Preferences". Once done, there will be a "Develop" item in the toolbar.. click this and then choose "User Agent"

I am using this one to check if a certain website doesn't have a mobile version.
Mobile preview

If you see a blank screen, it is totally a flash site (not mobile friendly). Mango Tree Mobile is also offering this kind of service, if you want to have instant mobile sites. http://mangotreemobile.com/

Cool, thanks. To play with my responsive designs in Firefox I select the following in the drop down menu:

Web Developer -> Responsive Design View

A cool little tool. It won't actually detect a mobile site but it's great for testing responsive designs.

Quentin, thanks for the share. I had used browser user agent switcher addons in the past but finally settled down with non-browser simulators and emulators. Because, desktop browsers will still use the desktop browser capabilities while rendering a mobile website. I am lately using Opera Mobile Emulator which has numerous device and screen size options.
