I have been trying to add a click to call button to my mobile site but cannot seem to get it to work. I have read from Willr and Quentin that all you have to do is add this code - <a href="tel:123456789">123456789</a> to an icon or picture and that should do the trick, not for me. When you click it just takes me back to the home page. Any ideas, or is their a wp plugin i can use to add click to call option? many thanks |

The reason it is not working for you is probably because you are trying to test it on your PC? The Click to Call feature will not work on PC browsers only on mobile phone browsers. Even a mobile simulator or emulator will not work. You will need to use an actual phone to test that feature although if you have used the code you mentioned above then there is no real need to test it because it will work.

Don't worry, i have figured it out. Sorry Willr but i have been testing on a mobile phone and i can assure you it is not working. If i just insert the code without a picture it works fine, but as soon as i try to use an icon-nothing, as i mentioned before i just get returned to the home page. I am using artisteer with a wordpress template if that helps |

Make sure you have your second quote (the one after the number) because if you forget it the code does get messed up. Using an image should not cause any problems. I am with Jay if you past your exact code it will be much easier for us to see the problem.

If you want to hyperlink an image so that when clicked it will trigger the Click to Call feature, then you need to link the image to the click to call link like this: <a href="tel:12345678"><img border="0" src="yourimage.gif" width="40" height="40" alt="Click to Call"></a> Obviously in the code above you would change 'yourimage.gif' to the url of the Click to Call image you are using and the width and height dimensions from '40' to whatever the actual width and height dimensions of your image are. | |

zimbizeee What phone are you trying to use the Tap to Call feature? Some "smartphones" don't recognize those commands. Especially if you are using a prepaid service phone like Straight Talk or Virgin Mobile. Also, some older Blackberry's do not recognize that command. Most newer smart phones like the Androids and iPhones should recognize that code because I develop mobile websites myself and that always works for me. You can PM me if you want some more help.

I was going to say the same as Jay. Every phone I have ever used to Click to Call on has worked fine... even my old Blackberry.
