Here is a mind-map of SEO for mobile websites.

It lists quite a few of points you may never heard of.

Let me know what you think. Your comments are appreciated.

If you have anything valuable to add to the map please let me know.

The file will be updated ASAP.

Good contribution and am hoping it becomes a great source for conversation and positive input

i don't think we have seen the extent of Googles inclusion of mobile for search just yet specifically in the made for smartphone sector, even the previous search for mobile non smartphones that are heavily optimized and valid mobile sites are not necessarily ranked as you would think.

Saying that i don't think it would harm trying to do what you can to rank your mobile sites, am sure its one step more than your average competitor is doing!

Couple of things i would like to see added or at least highlighted...

1) the google mobile site map is of a specific configuration and different from a regular site map

2) javascript based redirection will get ignored by the google mobile search bot

3) speed is a very important factor for mobile, look into caching... Fact not all HTML mobile sites are faster than PHP sites, PHP based CMS like Wordpress and Joomla are not to slow or sluggish for mobile it depends on the plugin and the developer

4) responsive designs typically look good but will not necessarily validate or have good loading speeds since the content is usually not fully optimized for mobile and more often than not is hidden, masked or scaled which all impact loading times.

5) mobileOK validator still detects certain HTML5 tags - whilst becoming slightly dated any validation scores under 85% should still be a concern... the higher the score the more mobile devices will be able to access the content. Currently sites the do validate validate to XHTML MP are the ONLY sites that are highlighted with a green handset for Google Search for non-smartphones.

6) Don't forget about PPC for mobile in particular Google Adsense for Mobile

Cheers

Jay

PS i posted this in your other thread but think its more suited under mobile marketing...

Sorry, I am too busy helping people to think of a cool signature!
