Just saw this today and while I think most of us know this, this is a great infographic to share with prospects!

The key mobile points made here...

- 1 in 4 abandon a regular web page that takes more than 4 seconds to load.

- 50% of mobile users abandon a page if it doesn't load in 10 seconds and 3 out of 5 wont return to that site

- 79% of mobile web consumers use their phones for shopping

I thought it was 5 seconds but in the end it will depend on what they are accessing.

For example we did a coupon program for a customer and due to a mistake I made the graphic to big however people waited for it to load until I corrected the error.

Stats can always be made to say what we want.

Wow that is an incredible statistic. A nice tool I use for page speed is https://developers.google.com/pagespeed/. It's super easy to use.

The stats you provide are really nice.
Very true Steve mobile users do not spends time waiting for pages to load for long, they are more impatient compared to web users. We need to optimize the load time of mobile websites in most efficient manner and https://developers.google.com/pagespeed/ is a great tool for the purpose.

One way of improving page load speed is to intelligently prefetch them in the background after loading the home page. One of the benefits of jQuery mobile framework.

oh wow - please anyone doing mobile web development keep your page load speeds to 4 or 5 seconds absolute maximum, if its taking 10seconds to load there is something seriously wrong!

a few people have already mentioned the google pagespeed tool, make sure you understand what the reports are telling you and see if you can address them, same with the MobileOK checker, whilst your score may not necessarily be 100% by their standards, the detailed report can show a number of false negatives but also give you a better understanding of some potential issues - there should be no reason you cant get a mobileOK score over 80%
