Hi all, I'm relatively new to mobile marketing but I was hoping one of you could answer my questions. How important is it for a small business owner to have a mobile website? What is a good price to charge for a mobile website? I built this website: Philharmonic Pub (view from your smartphone) What would you charge a business for building that website? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Well you only have to look at smartphone usage to see how important it is. Charging varies if you are hosting or supplying the files. Usually we would charge between $250 to $350 Quentin |

I think a lot of it depends on the business. Does a CPA need a mobile site. Maybe not. A plumber, yes. Any type of bar or restaurant, absolutely! Also, the demographic you are targeting and sometimes the locale. The younger demographic and less affluent may only have and use a mobile phone for Internet access. In some areas mobile is the only thing people have as well (say Hong Kong for example). Regardless of those thoughts mobile is the future so not having a mobile site is just plain dumb these days. |

Thanks guys. I agree with what you both said. On that note, are either of you currently selling mobile marketing to your customers? How are you getting customers? |

Its getting more and more important everyday to have a mobile site. Even for a CPA. So many people are using their phones to surf around the internet because it is just so much easier to break out the smartphone to look up something quick than to take the time yo fire up the computer. On smartphones mobile sites are so much easier to read and find the info you are looking for. I know that I appreciate a mobile site when I'm searching. Posted from Warrior Forum Reader for Android |

Practically every mobile phone sold today has the ability to go on to the Internet and search.

i personally think mobile marketing is not that important. however, i've heard some people say it has helped a lot with their business so i guess it really depends on what you're offering.

They can definitely help a business. If one does it properly, it can bring in a bit more traffic of people who want what they are searching for now, which means they want to spend money now at a business. So it has it's own unique value for a business.

I agree with the others about pricing and think you did a nice job on that site, however I'd reconsider using white text on black as that's typically more difficult for people to read, and I'd consider using a different image or making that one larger as I have no idea what that's supposed to be Also, while I think there are a number of businesses that couldn't benefit from a website costing thousands of dollars, for only a few hundred for a mobile site, I think just about anyone would see a positive return on that small investment...even if it's just to help people locate the business. Cheers, Steve |

For a 5-10 page site I usually charge around $399. It all depends on what they are looking for.

Creating mobile website is not only important but by doing so, you can step ahead with time. How? As most people are using cell phones today, you can reach a large chunk of them by allowing them to access websites of your company through cell phones. One thing which I personally feel is important is that, mobile websites should be created using advanced mobile apps to allow people navigate web pages without any hassle. For me, mCommerce is quite interesting and can yield quick result for online traders.

Mobile websites are essential for local business who want to attract and engage their mobile audience (which is growing larger by the day). I would have to disagree with most and say pricing should be much higher then a few hundred dollars. Typically a starting point should be $500 - $2000 and up depending on the size of the business. Selling a mobile site is only the first step. Look to offer value adds to increase the ticket price with QR codes, SMS text marketing, CPC campaigns to drive traffic, monthly reporting and more. Great stuff to get started keep up the good work. |

It's kind of like asking 5 years ago how important it is for a business to have a regular website. When the majority of users to your website are on a mobile device (this will happen in the next year or two) then it only makes sense to have a version of your site that is designed for those people. Just like you have a standard website now for desktop users, you should have a mobile website for your mobile users.

I've found $297. set-up and $47-$67 monthly for administration to be my sweet spot. I agree with the others, this will and should lead into other services. (SMS, Google Places) Once you have a good client base, it's much easier and more cost effective to nurture them into long lasting customers. Always over-deliver and they will be loyal. |
