Mobile Client Methods

Hey guys,

I currently just finished studying through Quentin and Warrior Will's e-books regarding mobile websites. I'm currently building my website that I can send customers to if they seem interested.

My question is what's the best approach to meet/convert clients? I've gathered a list of about 50 local chiropractors and I'm going to mail them(hand written envelope info) a quick hello, and a heads up that I tried visiting their site on a mobile phone and had some trouble. I'll then call these people about 3 days later to see if they got my letter. If I'm able to get anyone curious about it what's the next best step? Should I then tell them about how their losing customers, then tell them I'll make them one myself?

I've currently done 3 mobile sites for local chiropractor, electrician, and home designer for FREE just to get some testimonials. And they're unbelievably not stoked in the least, even after the fact I'm telling them that they're currently losing customers by not having a mobile optimized website. They seem impressed with my website but it's taking them a few weeks just to get a hold of their web guy to get me the host info. Obviously I'm a novice and a horrible salesman, and will be working these next few months on my presentation skills. But is there any tips/advice for this kind of thing?

All feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Darrett

Darrett... I personally would not start off with the professionals. They will take longer and are a tougher sale in my humble opinion. If it is in fact taking them a few weeks just to get ahold of their web guy then you need to be getting that business as well and provide them much better service.

Well I'm certainly no expert in the field, but judging by what you said. It sounds like you are doing the same thing wrong that I've been doing for SMS marketing. You aren't stressing why they need it enough, and how it can solve some of the problems they are having. You said they are impressed with your site, but still aren't interested so I'd say that is the problem.

Best way is to create a mobile site directory for chiros etc and tell them if they want to be added to the list like all their comp is doing right now than they can register their details on your site by contact formetc and you can have a rep call back(yourself) to confirm details for mobile site directory for chiropractors

Darrett,

It sounds like you're getting caught in the features vs. benefits trap.

When you sell to business people or professionals you need to focus on the benefits to THEIR business/practice, not the features of YOUR product/service.

Meaning, they care far less about how cool it looks, how state of the art it is, etc.

Some of your less self-centered prospects might care about their customers' convenience, but almost all will care about losing potential business to competitors.

I've found both Quentin and Will to be legitimate mobile site marketers that give solid advise so you're on the right track with your overall approach.

Btw, Will has a new mobile site lead generator video in the WSO section that would go very well with the approach you're using. It's under $20.

Internet marketing is not rocket science ... unsubscribe from every guru spam list you're currently on ... they just want to rape your wallet and make you co-dependent.

right as canuckwarrior mentioned, you need to focus on the benefits you bring to the table plus what the added value is to having a mobile optimized website and really what kind of added value you personally bring to the table. Remember that before you even think about selling a product you need to be able to sell yourself.

I agree with Adwizard. I would not start by talking to the professionals.

I would start with people you already have a business relationship with, such as a mechanic, restaurant owner (we all eat, right?), lawn guy, dry cleaner, etc. and approach them about getting a mobile website.

Doing it this way allows you to talk to people who know and trust you (hopefully), and are likely to give you the benefit of the doubt, based on the fact that you're already doing business with them.

You're not some pushy sales person coming at them trying to separate them from their money, you're a welcome guest, instead of an uninvited pest.

Give it a try and see how it works. I've had some success doing it this way. Your mileage may vary.

Hope that helps.
