I dream of a product that I can create mobile websites or my customers can something like Bizz apps but that I can run off my own server. Over the years I have been apart of so many programs that eventually die or the service degrades etc. I love doing my own mobile websites but there is definitely a space for hosted self built mobile websites and apps. If it can convert these pages to apps even better and link a domain better still. Quentin |

I agree, there is definitely a need for a killer mobile platform that is powerful yet affordable and provides an easy way to put an app together to be used as a mobile site AND as an app for the Android and Apple stores. I've been using Conduit but now they are starting to charge $29 per month per published app. Biznessapps is good but just too expensive. How about a service that combines the features of those 2 platforms for like 20 bucks a month? Build as many apps as you want for the same monthly price, and have the ability to download the entire site to host on your own server if you want. That would be my dream mobile product. |

Now on Google android, you are in the clear. Kindle fire does have a review process. But HTML 5 is the way to go...it's fairly straightforward to produce apps that work on iOS, Android and mobile web, all by using the same underlying code. | |

What I think would be cool is a service (self-hosted or not) that lets you create mobile coupons that can be redeemed, and searchable by location. Coupons on mobile are very hot.

Quentin a great post and idea but there are CMS tools already available out there, not so much in a SaaS offering but they do exist. The benefit of a hosted SaaS offering is the fact that you don't have to worry about infrastructure/updates/downtime etc.. Whole your concerns are valid regarding companies that go bust or service degradation you just need to be sure you choose your service provider carefully if this is the route you take.
