Yes, have heard of them. Believe what they do is use the "DotGo" mobile publishing technology platform. In other words, they built their text messaging system on top of that. If you look at their homepage ... lower right ... it says ..."Keywords Search Engine" ... if you select something from the dropdown menu you'll see SHORTCODE choices from DotGo. Hope this helps.

Hi Lee,
Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping to find somebody that uses their white label service to see if they're satisfied with the service.

TextCoMedia has been around a while and here are the issues you will experience.

1) They are expensive.

They are, as the above poster mentioned built on the DotGo Service. This means...

2) Your customers do not own their customer cellphone number list. They wont even be able to see the cellphone numbers.

3) It requires the use of a custom programming code called CMRL, and the script has to be implanted into their index page of their website.

4) They have to use a Domain Name as a Keyword since the service is tied to the CMRL code.

I will clarify that I have never actually used their service but di take a look at it a couple of years ago. One of the things that concerned me was the very amatuer look of their main website. It just doesnt make a good first impression in my humble opinion.

Hope it helps...

Question ...

I can see how business would want to own and/or control their cell phone database or list.

This makes me ask the questions "what are the existing businesses and/or models that allow the collection of contacts in a database that can be controlled by a third party, say using something like a GROUPON hybrid model?"

I am new to this area, and suspect that this might not be the best question, but I will humbly ask it anyway.

Thanks

EM

HypeText is indeed correct about all of these issues with DotGo. Well stated. I would add one more thing ... I did have direct contact/service with them ... a couple of years ago ... and found their customer service to be non-existent. Very frustrating. Not worth the time for that aspect alone. Of course, in fairness, things may be better now??

There is also another company (DKText.com) that built their FRONT-END system on top of the DotGo engine too. But, in the end, for all of the reasons stated above ... you still end up in the same place.

DotGo received some attention early simply because (at the time) they did NOT charge anything for text messages. Very attractive, of course. They received some grants and funding to start up their company ... with the intention of eventually charging for messages down the road (which they finally do now).

There are a lot of BETTER choices in the marketplace out there for you in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

I am not quite sure what you mean by a "Groupon Hybrid". could you expound a little please?
