some use .m some use /m etc.

I noticed Google themselves use /m

I assume as long as you have the proper site map /m would work fine ?

Google had a video out about 6 months to a year ago talking about putting the mobile website on the subdomain. It really doesn't matter. So long as your mobile site is coded correctly and you have a mobile sitemap then they are going to know it's your mobile site.
