Anyone got experience with a mobile social network app like Instagram or Viame? Like cost to develop it & turnaround time. Im in a niche that something like this would be great for. It would also help me better compete in this large market. Any info you can provide will be highly appreciated. I looked on a lot of mobile camera app developers site but didn't find any specific info. Posted from Warrior Forum Reader for Android |

You won't get specific quotes for projects like that until you approach some companies. It's impossible for anyone to give you any quotes that will be meaningful to you. The problem is you could get a quote for $1000 and another for $20,000. The quality of both apps will be wayyyy different.

Thats true Will. Just was hoping somebody may have crossed those waters and could throw some prices from experience out there. I really have no idea what is best software/code/ect to have the apps built/programmed in. Dont want nobody to take advantage of my inexperience in the matter.

Make sure that you check bidders feedback score, etc.

Like, this particular app cost this much to make. A general idea so to speak. I know my apps end price will be different because I need some extra features.

Seriously. Just go and start getting quotes. It's the best way to do this. What someone else paid for their app really won't help you. I could tell you a friend of mine had a fairly complex app created for sharing taxis with other people who were looking for a taxi to go the same route. It cost over $20,000 to develop. I also know other people who have had very simple apps created that did not do much at all and they were around $1,000 - $2,000. There are also plenty of game apps out there that would have cost upwards of $100,000 to create.

Will, I will start soliciting bids to find out what I need to know which is base price. Can't wait to hit market places.

Also remember that a price quote can change as features are added or coding conflicts develop. Make sure you budget more than the quote. You might take a look at this SDK as well, it might cut a lot of cost if you are able to leverage it. http://www.aviary.com

I would start off by getting some bids from developers on sites like Elance or oDesk. Even if you have a company in mind you would like to develop your app already, by having developers bid on your project, you will see what a "fair" price for the idea you are thinking of is.
