LOL, really? In what way it makes no sense? I was not sure if the phase "media buying" was correct. With your comment, I went back and looked at some of my downloaded materials and found this definition;

ART OF MEDIA BUYING
"Media buying is the act of purchasing CPC ad space from adnetworks onto which you distribute CPA ads from an affiliate network, with the intent of making a profit."

(I am not hooked up with mobpartner, not yet.)

I dont know what else to call this activity. What do you call it? I posted this thread because the people engaged in this activity on this forum are not readily apparent to me. I am totally new to this field and find it a little scary. the search "mobile media buying" on this site didnt show much. I was hoping some directly doing this would come forth and share their experiences.

On this forum its easy to find threads on marketing to build mobile sites for local clients like restaurants or dentists. I was just sending a shout out to the "media buyers" on the forum. I dont know how to say it clearer.
or are you saying the threads about media buying are obvious? I dont understand why people are confused.

I also did a google search of "mobile media buying" and got several links,
I have to thank you because in trying to find a definition of mobile media buying I found some excellent sites.

The insider
first two questions:
Q1. What is mobile media planning and buying?
Mobile media planning and buying is selecting the best-performing mobile media for ad placements on behalf of clients.

Q2. What does it involve?
The main role of a mobile media planner/buyer is sourcing inventory. Mobile media planners are permanently looking for new forms of quality traffic and maintain personal relationships with each supplier to ensure a seamless buying process.
It is essential to clearly understand what each client hopes to achieve from the campaign. Who are they targeting? What is the purpose of the campaign? How will it be judged?
This is written into a media plan, then the buyer negotiates the best possible media rates with suppliers and it is presented to the client. Once the campaign is approved, the account manager sets up the campaign and manages it on a day-to-day basis to maintain optimal performance.

Mobile Buyer’s Guide

While mobile appears to be a complex ecosystem with its own vernacular, the media buying process is very similar to other familiar platforms including the PC-based internet. This booklet guides you through that process in plain English and will get you started as a first time mobile advertiser. While mobile advertising is much like advertising on any other medium, it’s important to remember that there are also some critical differences as well. These key differences, such as different creative specs, richer interactive possibilities, and measurement challenges, can and should impact your mobile strategy.

An interactive marketing forecast released by Forrester Research projects mobile advertising will increase 70% to $391 million this year and to $1.3 billion by 2014. The firm called mobile one of the "most anticipated, least adopted" interactive channels in the mix.
