A few weeks ago someone had come up with a SMS system for contacting waiting customers at restaurants when their table is ready. They seemed to have a problem and I wrote to them but never really recieved a reply. Is that system avaliable, and did they fix their problems.

I believe you could use an SMS provider to achieve this easily, and if you wanted to you could build a web script that automated this service with your SMS provider.

Most SMS providers should allow for individual text reminders, do your homework. You'll come across a few...

They might have been talking about the wrecking ball sms system, it does that. It isn't for telling waiters when the food is ready to be picked up but in busy places where they might already use or need a pager system. I know a number of places near me when they are busy they hand you a buzzing pager and tell you it'll buzz when your table is ready. The problem is it has a really limited range so you can't really go very far while you are waiting.

I sell restaurant sms notification services. I offer it really cheap so I can get my foot in the door then I often sell SMS marketing services. It is easier to sell to extremely busy restaurants. My main selling point is improving the experience of their customers. Customers are allowed to roam where ever they want while they wait, thus making the wait easier on them. Especially in places where even room at the bar is scarce. |

I think is a great idea, perhaps a restaurant can also send a reminder sms to a customer with their reservation would be awesome in case something changed in their plans and they might need to cancel

I'm not sure how this process could be automated since we all know that restaurant quotes times aren't always accurate But, I do see the restaurants saving a lot of money if instead of having those bulky pager systems that only work X amount of feet away...they simply send the phone number a text message when the table is ready using an online platform. |

I've been charging $44.95/month and most restaurants I've worked with don't ever send more than 1200 text messages per month. With the recent twilio price at less than 1ยข per text it works as a one time setup hands off service. |
