I'm doing a mock up and send it to owner (cold marketing method) to point out what their site looks like, has any owner ever complained that you copyright infringement because you copied their logo and stuff for mock up ?

Who cares haha if anyone has gotten a complaint it does not AT ALL mean you should not employ that method. If someone complains you say "Okay Dave, I'm sorry most people appreciate when I do this for them, but I will delete the mock up completely right away" |

the first step in the process. If you're just making non functioning mockups I doubt you're ever going to have a problem. Also, using their logo would be more in line with trademark infringement, not copyright.

Regardless it's well worth the very very small risk.

Agree with Tsnyder... However, most small business owners probably don't have any trademarks on their logos and images anyway. As Internet Marketers, all we do (or should do) is find a problem that a small business owner has and create a solution for them. There is nothing like a business owner seeing their own business solution for what they know or should know is a problem hampering their growth. |

This is not a good use of your time. They better be interested before you spend one minute mocking something up. Make contact and make sales. Don't make busy work for yourself and pretend it is the same as succeeding in business.

This is nothing to worry about at all. You are not going to publish those designs anywhere you are simply making the mockup site for their own purpose. If anyone does kick up a stink just say exactly what Maxwell said above... and move on. Nothing to be gained by worrying about something like this since it will likely never be an issue. |

the skill set necessary for selling intangible concepts but there are many sales to be made by producing a personalized mock ups. It gives the prospect an actual product to look at and prompts many to make that impulsive buying decision.
