First Day Cold Calling! Need Assistance
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hello fellow Warriors! Well, it was my first day cold calling businesses locally for mobile sites and I must say, I believe I had some success, atleast for appointment setting anyway .

Anyhoo, I have an appointment Friday with a business owner who has 5 local TLD exact match domain websites for his company and they are all on first page google either in organic or google pages and he is VERY interested in seeing his mockup sites for them ALL! $297 a pop I am hoping! Also a local pizza company needs a new guy to do their site including local, etc. I was thinking of offering SMS and Social Media marketing but don't know much on how to charge or who to outsource to for great work, any ideas?

Also the guy with 5 sites is interested in social media as well. Ideas and what I should charge, outsource would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Thanks WillR for the templates and a few others for easy scripts! I think it is easy to say that I am excited, lol!

Jake

Congrats on your appointment! It is not clear from your post if you have done face to face sales or even over the phone sales before so I wanted to offer one piece of advice: Be confident! It can make or break a sale if you are not confident in your services. odesk has a ton of social marketing workers that could do that work for you. Best of luck and I wish you success!

Actually yes, I have been in sales all my life, use to do collections over the phone and am currently a realtor but would LOVE to do this full time! Attitude is everything and my excitement and confidence in the product does show! Thanks guys!

Realtors cold call don't they? I know for a fact a few guys from Keller Williams Realty cold call. I've heard them and they're pretty decent.

Anyway, good luck and pitch the hell out of them! Don't let it get you down. It's a game and it's FUN. If they say no just move on. Good luck!

I'm guessing they were referring to "Social Media Management", whereby, a particular person is handling the aspects of a companies social media outlets i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I just think you have to calculate how much you are willing to do in an hour and give an estimate based on that. Also, I agree with the other posters. You have to have confidence.

Congrats! That's awesome. Definitely check out odesk for outsourcing. I've been using it for the last couple of months and it's the best thing I have done for my business. I now have a team of people working for me.

Also you should pitch Google+ Local. I've been pairing that with mobile sites and have had some success.

Thanks for the info! I think that is the way to go. What are you charging for your smm services or google + services?

I have a few different options for Google+. I created a training program that businesses can follow or an option that I implement for them.

DIY is $197 then I charge $397 for a basic mobile site.

For the package that I implement for them (outsource) is $597 and then again I charge the mobile site on top.

I want to start charging a reoccurring fee for the mobile sites. Even 9 bucks a month will add up if you have the volume. Hope that helps!

Thanks John! What I do is "stand up" and get my excitement up. Motion creates emotion!

Great work!

I am not a fan of cold callling (sorry Mr. Durham ), but plenty of success stories on this very forum of people having success everyday.

I hate it, but it does work

yep, that's what Tony Robbins says and he's right. Action does not follow motivation. Act first and then the motivation kicks in, almost like adding fuel to a small fire. If you feel tired and lethargic and can't get going, get out of the chair even though you don't feel like it, do some jumping jacks and incantations. Within about a minute your blood is flowing and you're ready to tackle whatever it is you want to act upon. In this case, cold calling. I also like to use the 5 minute rule. I don't want to do such and such, so I'll just do it for 5 minutes and then quit. I always just keep going and finish it.

Update everyone! I met at the appointment with 2 mockup mobile sites and 2 qr codes. I mentioned that I look at IM like a puzzle and that his puzzle looked great but is missing 1 piece, the mobile sites. I showed him a search for one of his keywords, clicked on his site and showed how long it took to load then I showed him a qr code I printed out and said that this could be on any print ads he does and scanned it.

It went right to a subdomain I set up with his mobile mockup. Long story short, he thought I was a genious! Closed 4 sites at $297 each and we are talking smm and print ads as well! Not a bad return on about 4 hours worth of work! Thank WF!

That's awesome news. I'm very happy for you. The confidence that comes with getting your first client(s) is huge and helps a lot in your future sales. You have now proven to yourself that it works and that's a BIG thing. Make sure you keep up the momentum.

This is yet more proof of the fact that those who take action get results.

Well done.
