Okay so my idea is to sell mobile websites along with a content management system that the business will be able to use to keep the site updated themselves. I was wondering whether I would be able to charge a recurring monthly fee for the use of the CMS, as well as the fee for designing the website. Do you think businesses would pay this or should I just charge a one off fee? Any advice would be great! |

You can charge for both. Just explore you're local market to see what kind of rates you should ask. I also charge designing costs and a monthly fee (hosting, backup, added to a local restaurant listing site, etc.) here in the Netherlands. Always better to try and have a monthly recurring fee and build your income that way. And if you bill monthly you know for sure you're in the picture ones a month If you have something to offer and they can see the added value you should be fine. |

A mobile CMS is an awesome idea. I say find out what the going rate is for something like this, or maybe charge a similar price as would be expected to pay for a PC CMS. The rest, you're on your own with because I haven't even started my first MM campaign yet.

Hi Suzanne, Adding a CMS for the backend management will increase the price of the mobile site, you can absolutely charge more for this. But I don't think you should ask for a monthly fee unless you are hosting it. |

Maybe it will help to stop them going back to their original website designers once I point out that they need a mobile one (fingers crossed!!)

Thanks Nail, I was thinking of charging around £200 for the one off fee. But if I am honest not really sure of the right price to charge yet, don't want to be too cheap and them think it is going to be poor quality.

But the re-curring income you can also get by upgrading them to thinks like SMS marketing and other services. But like I said before if you can get them to pay monthly you will stay in the picture even if you don't have anything to offer yet. And since knowledge (like sms marketing) will take you some time, they could forget about you and you dont want that to happen right. If they're only start thinking about Mobile Marketing you want to be in their mindset about "who to call" And its better to think about thinks before you start then loose potential clients in the future, so you did well If you like you can also partner up with me and have a similair solution as extra and still offer you're own CMS. Its only bringing in a small amount for the "hosting" but that makes you the first one to call and for sure the one to listen to in the future. And they really want the "hosting" you have to offer, since it is something that will give their mobile website (which they already need) an extra leverage. But its only for the different kind of restaurants, so its sort of a niche.

£200 is not so bad for the mobile site + CMS if you are not going to create it from scratch.
