I'm looking to build an sms list that I probably wont market to for awhile. What is the least expensive way to build an sms list?. I'm going to be building an sms list but i wont be marketing to it for maybe a month or two. what do you guys recommend lime cellular requires 147 a month. Id rather avoid that now or at least for the first two months until my list is ready any suggestions. |

Just build a MOBILE landingpage with an optinform with name and telephone number. Use QR codes or other ways to sign up. This way you already have the names and numbers for yourself and you can do whatever and whenever you want to do with it. Or use a callingcard, put a button on the page for sms or use a qr for sms. this way you recieve all the numbers with codes on a cellphone/card.

KaterSD-You might want to wait until you're ready to actually start marketing to your list before you start building your list. If you wait a month or two your list will be very cold and probably will not remember you. Get'em when they're hot.

Both comments are helpful, and when you set up your lead capture info for optin, whether a mobile optin or through QR, etc., be sure to have your follow up ready. You may want to include some free teaser offer to get them to sign up before marketing to them directly. You'll always get some freebie seekers and those who opt out after you market to them. You need to target the hot market.

The most important thing is to not build your list until you are ready to market to them. It's a waste of time otherwise. A list that hasn't been contacted for a few weeks will start to go cold.
