Hi Warriors, I've run into an interesting problem with my SMS marketing strategy. for simplicity let's say I have 1 short-code 2 retailers and 2 restaurants (each with their own keyword) 1 user who has subscribed to both retailers and restaurants. Now suppose retailer A is sending messages too often, so the subscriber decides to text back STOP and opt out. The problem arises that since all merchants are using the same short-code, the subscriber is unsubscribed from the entire short-code (all 4 merchants). Is there a solution to this? thanks for your thoughts! --Edge |

Each platform or SMS provider handles this situation differently. One platform may opt them out of all lists or databases other platforms opt users out of the last joined list or database. If you want to avoid this issue, switch SMS platform providers. Also, a good platform lets users send: STOP <List Name> to remove that user from that specific list. |

Add yourself to each list by opting in with thee keywords.. Try STOP and see what happens. Then try STOP ALL and see what happens. Then start over until you understand how the database keyword commands work.

AgilityMarketer; Thanks for the tips. beeswarn, thanks for the tip but you might have misread. I have done what you said and that's how I know that QUOTE: "The problem arises that since all merchants are using the same short-code, the subscriber is unsubscribed from the entire short-code (all 4 merchants)." |

Doesn't work that way for me and I have several hundred keywords out there on the same shortcode. Call your provider next.

Text message marketing or SMS (Short Message Service) marketing is an incredibly powerful promotional tool that has yet to reach its full potential.

Another reason to monitor the merchants by subscribing to all your clients is to see who may be texting too often and let them know they are going to begin loosing their subscribers. If I started receiving a whole bunch of texts, I would quickly opt out. Just like email only here with the short code system, everyone will feel the pain with opt-out fever. I do not have that problem with my system. Each account is unique.

What is the optimum amount of texts a retailer/vendor should be sending out to the subscribers? How many is too many? Thanks, Wisln | |

Thin of it as an email subscriber list. If you started receiving an email everyday trying to sell you something without offering any real value, your would unsubscribe quickly, With texting, it does not matter what you offer, more than 2 texts per week will generate a flow of reply "STOP" |

It depends on the value it brings! If you offer a "daily best deal" near, in town or in zip code or a "recipy of the day", they dont mind getting a daily sms since it will bring them best value and they expect it. But for "affiliate kind" of spamming just dont |
