Hi, I started my own SMS marketing company a few months back. I have roughly 20 clients now and am getting better at closing deals with every phone call/meeting. I was just wondering..what type of industries are others targeting? And, what kind of results are you receiving. The most common I know are restaurants..but I would like to think outside the box. Real Estate, service industries, townships/villages. Also, what is the best way for you to help your customer's get opt-ins? What is the best wordage on a sign to get opt ins? What is the typical rate of receiving opt ins? One of my clients have over 400 in 2 months and some are receiving 30 a month. One last thing, where else should these small companies advertise their text marketing campaign to receive opt ins? I already have some clients advertising the text campaign in movie theater ads but where else would be a good spot? Thanks! |

How are these other industries going to use it to receive an ROI? As that is all they care about.

The texts that are sent are used in very different ways depending on the industry. Anything from specified dollar amount off a specific service, BOGO deals (tanning), free estimates (lead generation), contests, and appointment reminders. It really depends on if you are just selling strictly SMS services or are offering SMS as part of a complete marketing strategy.

And how do these industries get the text opt ins? It's not like they have the foot traffic of usual restaurants. Also, the limit I use is to put a sense of urgency on the customers to be one of the first 50. Whether or not the restaurant really uses the first 50, I just use it as a means to get people in the door. |

There is also a variety of ways to get opt-ins, which in turn depends on their level of internet presence and advertising methods. (Perfect opportunity to sell other offline marketing services) Facebook promotions, in-store opt-ins, email marketing, website opt-ins, direct mail postcards. Look at their business as a whole. Determine where they are lacking (website, social media, etc.) Build a custom plan for them that will capture leads and give them increased sales. |

I wonder if direct mailers with the text opt ins even work..something I'll have to give a try. Thanks Heather!

I just picked up a salon and we are giving away a free haircut every month. Opt ins are coming in fairly steadily. I gave them business cards w/ offer on it to give away to current customers, and I also have an optin form on their website that pops up after a few seconds to enter to win. Customer just enters their phone number and that kicks out an autoresponse and puts them in the database. People like free stuff, and drawings are good because the business doesn't have to go broke giving something of value away. When a subscriber wins, chances are they are going to tell their friends too, which helps gain more optins. |
