I have a background in IM but am new to mobile marketing. What is the best place for me to start and learn? I've been reading the forum, but need to get my feet wet. Something similar to 7Search for PPC or POF for display, but for mobile marketing.

Their are tons of WSO's here. Just do a search and look at reviews.

Like the guys said before me Google is a good place to start getting your initial info. There are a few WSOs that you would benefit greatly. It's just depends what mobile marketing method you are going to use. I mean SMS or mobile site building or mobile directories or all of them. It will take time to go through all relevant WSOs and reviews but it will worth it.
